The SAV 30 barrel stamp was used when Savage first started chambering the 30 WCF (30-30) cartridge, I would like to narrow down the actual serial range.
I have 18022, have record of 18658 with SAV 30 and also own 20588 which is stamped 30-30.
Can anyone expand the upper/lower range of SAV 30 or lower the known serial number of the 30-30 stamp?
Thanks BillR

SAV 30: 1500x for sure. 1338x reported but not sure if it is a good number as I don't have any other reports in between. 1970x is the highest 20409 1st 30-30 I have in my data.

Thanks for the input. I am trying to put this one (18022) back in shooting condition as it is a touch of Savage history. BillR

I guess I have too many Savages Bill, I just realized that in addition to the 1899 A that I sold, I still have a model B that is stamped 30 Sav. It won't mean much to your research however, as it is SN. 16.226

Thanks Jim, It appears the SAV 30 marking was used for a greater serial range than I first thought, This cold winter has me indoors looking for things related to Savage history, I hope to buy or trade for a neat rifle in the next few days to keep me motivated, the ones in the cabinet aren't as interesting as a new find. I know what you mean Bill,It seems like the excitement is in the hunt, find, and buying of the gun. I have picked up 4 pretty decent 99's in the last month and have been doing my best to convince myself that enough is enough. Danged if a 99A in 250/3000 didn't come available tonight and I have been searching for a 1 in 10" ROT 250 for a while. This definitely has to be the last one this year.

Saw that one show up for $500, looked like it was in nice shape to but the pics were dark, receiver might have been a bit greyed. I've learned to control myself and trying to stick to pump 22's and NRA's, they're a cheaper hobby.

I just started laughing, I'm thinking, he's bidding on another one right now, just not gonna pay for it till the 1st, Joe.

Sorry Joe, I clicked on the wrong one. I meant to quote Roy where he said he could start again next year, in two weeks. I tell ya what though, I picked up that first year of production NRA and now I have Sporter-i-tice. I hope I don't get hooked on the pumps too, the other Joe.

It was a little on the rough side for sure when I got better pictures, but I was looking for a shooter with the 1 in 10" ROT so I think it will do. I think there was one on that sight a few months ago but seems to me it was about double the price of this one.
