Sadly I have run out of IMR4831 and need to buy some powder to feed the 270Win. Using 130TTSX it has run at 3050fps on 58 grains. Been reading a lot on here about RL26 with heavier bullets so I'm considering trying that or RL23 or is there something else I should try or just stay with 4831. My only kick is that 4831 doesn't meter well but it is very accurate in my rifle.
Any suggestions?

If you're staying w/ 130s, I've had some great loads with RL17. I have some RL 16 & 23 but have not played with them enough yet to say. I also have some 4451 that I'm going to try. I'm hearing a lot of good about it as well.

I'm getting very good results with rl-22 and 130 IL

I tried out some IMR 4955 with 130 Speer hot-cors recently. Good velocity and some of the best accuracy I've ever gotten out of that rifle.

I would try Ramshot Hunter. Almost identical burn rate as IMR 4831 but meters incredible.

Agree with C Roy on the Ramshot, plus would consider H4831sc, as it meters reasonably well.
My preliminary results with RL26 and 150 gr Partitions indicate that this is a winning package, as many others have been finding. Lots of good choices.

I haven't loaded any yet, but I plan to try RL16 with 130 grain bullets in my 270 Win. Alliant data shows a max load of 54.7 grains and a Berger 130 grain bullet for a velocity of 3,213 with a 24 inch barrel. I don't think you'd do any better than that with the 26.

I've loaded RL26 with 140 grain Bergers, 61.2 grains got 3,100 fps out of my 22 inch barreled Browning A bolt, and 3 shots nearly in the same hole at 100 yards.

RL23 is my most accurate powder in my 270 Winchester with 140gr Accubonds. About 3050fps. 110gr TTSX BT most accurate powder was RL16
no velocity yet. I can get 3100fps and 140gr Accubonds with MRP, its very accurate also works good with 150gr partitions. Still trying RL26 with 150gr and 140gr
but accuracy is not as good as others. Had highest velocity with 150gr partition. MRP was most accurate with the 150gr Partitions.

Some good info on this thread. I like IMR 7977 with 150's and 160's, the 140's are as light as I plan on going. Tried other powders but it didn't do as well as IMR 7977. Would like to try the newer Alliant powders this year if some makes it here locally.

I got a bunch of H4831 I'll sell you......

All kinds of good choices some are better than I 4831. Add VV N 560 to this list I have had excellent results with it at around 60gr. I note that Barnes has pretty much always said H4350.

I have had good results using the 4350s, IMR and H. My rifle has a 24" barrel and I get over 3,100 fps with 55 grains of IMR 4350 and a 130 TSX. I have backed down to 54 grains of IMR 4350 for about 3,50 fps and less stress and strain on the brass and rifle. I have lots of IMR 4350, so that's what I'm using right now, bit H4350 is probably a better choice, as well as the new IMR4451. I have used IMR4831 and 130 grain bullets with excellent results as well. These are not the newest powders, but they work.

Same here, it's generally my go-to powder and shoots excellent with the 130 IL and Pro Hunter. Ramshot Hunter is another excellent powder with the 130s for me.

My T3 loves Re 19 and the 130TTSX. I am looking for a better temp insensitive powder.

Thanks for the info guys.Looking back through my load notes I have tried RL22, IMR4451and IMR4350 as well as IMR and H4831. This rifle (A SC FWT) has a definite preference for the 4831's. I'll check the LGS to see if anyone has the 4831's or maybe 4831SC or Ramshot Hunter in stock. Might try RL16,23or26 if any of those are available too.

If you have a Sportsmans Warehouse near you I just noticed they have Alliant powders 20% off. The RL23 is only $19.99/pound. I've never used it but I'm tempted to get some and try it at that price. They show the RL26 being out of stock and it appears they don't even carry RL16 at all.

Unfortunately I am currently in Kommiefornia, soon to be rectified, and the sporting goods stores only carry tennis shoes and leotards.

I'm getting great accuracy with H4831sc,so much so I hate to even experiment with anything else.

I am putting together some incremental loads using 150 Hot-cors as I dont have a good heavier bullet load. Will be trying Hunter, H4350 and IMR 4831. I wanted to try RL26 but couldnt find any. Ive always worked with 130's in the couple of 270's Ive worked with, pretty excited to try 150's for some reason. Anyone using 140's Partitions? Seems like a good middle road bullet. I want a heavier load for Plains game in Africa or "just in case" if I hunt deer in Kodiak again. Leaning towards a 150 partition once I get the powder sorted out using the hot-cors. 130 TSX intrigues me as well. Ahh the off-season 😀
