I bought a T3x lite stainless a few weeks ago in .300 Win. It weighed 6 lbs., 3 oz. before mounts and a scope were added. With Talley LW mounts and a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 it weighed 7 lbs, .5 oz. I changed out the recoil pad for a Sims and now it weights 7 lbs., 1.65 oz. I don't think I'd want to go any lighter in .300 Win.

BMR - that's good information. It sounds like the STD is the one I want. Too bad as it is more expensive!

The T3 Lite is "standard".

Maybe he’s referring to the Superlites?

Okay, I went on the Tikka website and there doesn't seem to be a "standard". I guess I am talking about the Hunter model.

My 30-06 Tikka T3 with non-fluted barrel was 7lb 2oz with Talley LW's and Leupold M8 6x42 M1 turret. I wouldn't have wanted it any lighter either.

Does the Hunter model (non-fluted barrel) come free-floating or does it have a pressure point in front of the receiver?

My T3 Lite with Zeiss HD5 3-15x42 and Talley mounts with four 180/300wsm and sling weighs around 7.75 lbs. My 338wm SST/SYN M700 fully hunt ready and dressed weighs about nine pounds.

Get one Tikka. Then you will want another, I only have one, once you have two will want another?

i left the factory tikka rings on my t3 .i did change the screws. one thng i like about the tikka grooved receiver is that when using a longer scope you can space the rings way apart . i've always thought that te father apart your rings are the stronger your mount will be.if i were going to change rings i would never use those god awlful thick ass dnz rings. i think they are the ugliest thing ever made.

I bought my first Tikka a year and half ago. It's a T3X CTR in 308. It's very accurate and I've used it the last 2 years to kill 2 whitetails, mature boar, mule deer & javelina. It's worked great. I have several rifles(Ruger, Savage, Winchester, CZ, Kimber) that will shoot MOA and are just as good for hunting. Tikkas are good rifles but I'm not ready to sell everything else and collect Tikkas. The Tikka fan boys can be ridiculous at times.

It will probably get me flamed, but I have looked at several tikkas and they just don’t strike my fancy. They seem to be ok rifles and if they were to be found for say $399 I’d probably be more interested. Most I see are in the $600 range +or - and frankly when I handle one, in my mind I’m comparing it to a RAR or one of the discontinued marlins or stevens200s than a $600 rifle. The one thing that does intrigue me a bit is that they evidently are chambered in 8x57 which isn’t readily available in other new rifles. If I could find one of those for $400 I’d be really tempted. Funny how the different strokes thing works.

STS,

What caliber is that rifle? A 6.5 Creedmoor or?

308 Superlite. Bought it right before they announced they were making the 6.5's. I love it.

No flame from me. We like what we like.

All of mine shoot as well as high dollar custom guns and all I care about is accuracy.

The plastic trigger guard, magazines, and bolt shroud really messes with guys heads. Very similar to when Glocks came around. I had a choice between a SS Colt 1911 or a Glock 17 as my graduation present from high school.

The choice was obvious to me, I sure as hell didn't want some plastic pistol.

But, years later I have both, like them both.

Colt 1911 wins the prestige category every time, Glock wins performance. The Colt is an iconic symbol, the Glock an engineering marvel.

It doesn't take long, shooting a Tikka to build up some confidence in your rifle.

No games to play, did I or did I not get a good rifle.
Did not need to bed the action, like the rest of them in my safe.

It comes the way it should, ready to go hunting. The price is better than some.

Note # I did change something on my Tikka T3-X 7mm-08 I changed the bolt stop, from short to long. Feeds those longer bullets mo-betta!

Take care
