I love my Jap, in .45-70. I also own originals too. But this thing works very well. This little buck fell to a 125 yard shot from a 350 gr Hornady at 2200 fps.

Yup they are nice production rifles and work very well.

The work on mine is being done by The Wyoming Armory in Cody and I found a box of new 300 Super Flanged cases for ONLY $83.00 (love these cheap hobbies) that are being drop shipped to Cody as I am off to Key West tomorrow at oh dark thirty until the snow melts in my road here (about June).

If the 300 belted and flanged rounds differ only by of the belt/flange, but are otherwise identical in shape and dimension (?), then I would think that modification could be done without setting back the barrel. If that is true, it would be a fairly simple and quick modification for any decent gunsmith to do with a simple cutting tool in the lathe. Heck, I think I would try that one myself.

Not true. The Flanged round has no belt but rather rim like a 30-40 Krag. It was designed for double rifles at lower pressures than the 300 H&H belted. Setting back, reachambering and building a big extractor as in a rimmed double rifle or Winchester High Wall SHOULD resolve the problems in a rifle that never should have been built in the first place.

You may wish to reference pg 368 in the 10th edition of Cartridges of the World to see the very clear difference between the two cartridges.

Base diameter 300 H&H .513 300 Flanged .517
Rim diameter 300 H&H .530 300 Flanged .572

The rest of the two cartridges are the same, thus a 300 H&H neck sizing die set could be use to reload the flanged.

After calling and writing the Ballard company with NO response, The work has been sent to the Wyoming Armory in Cody as they have a solid reputation.

I have a Ballard 1885 that my father built, it has a single set trigger, the 1/2 cock hasn't worked since the rifle was built, meaning the hammer will fall from 1/2 cock when the trigger is pulled. My pops was told that there is a spring that needs to be fitted in the trigger group. I have done many trigger jobs, I don't want to start something that is over my head.

I am trying to find someone that has experience with this issue or a qualified gunsmith that can do the work. I found a web page for Ballard out of Mi., the phone numbers are disconnected.
