Agreed the ugly is strong, clamshell chincy. Mark ARish.
Imagine CDS will be along the way they have the turret style highlighted. But then they say Parallax: None. Who knows WTF.

That's one ugly azz scope. It's about time they start following SWFA's lead. Chit they'd do well to follow SWFA's lead.....then they'd have a ugly scope that actually worked as a scope.

Paul,
35+ years ago while constantly messing with the magnification ring of my new Vari-X 3-9, I killed a a fleeing bull at about 40 yds when I inadvertently left the scope on 9x.
Two weeks later I missed a chance at a very big buck running through the timber when I once again left the scope on 9x (and that one still haunts me).
Sometimes we learn more from our failures than our success.
This year I killed a bear at 28 paces, a cow elk at 60-70 yds, a fleeing bull at 35-40 yds, and a pronghorn at 300 yds, all with the same 2.5-8 scope.
It's hard to argue with the simplicity of a fixed power, but I sure appreciate the versatility of a variable.

I guess it would have been worse if you had a scope with a higher zoom range.

They did away with the gold medallion on the side too. One less machining step there. Watch for a spike in used Leupold VX-1's and 2's pricing.

Thats an improvement. Leupold does not need to incourage shooters to twist Leupold turrets.

So, I gather that you dislike Leupold scopes?
If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

I'm fine with a 3x zoom range. So far the higher zoom ranges come with scopes that are heavier, larger in size, and probably even more movement in the magnification mechanism.

So, I gather that you dislike Leupold scopes? The ones made 10-15 yrs ago and beyond worked. I ran leupold scopes on rifles since I was 16,17 yrs old, I'm 54 now. Never had an issue with em till I got a vx3i in late fall 2016. No trust at all for their product anymore.

Wow...I agree with some others, to me that ranks highly on the ugly scale. I'll be sure to not own one...ever.

Can someone post pics of pretty scopes? I have always seen a scope as being more of a tool and less of a piece of art.

I'm not too impressed with the tactical look either, but if they adjust more precisely and hold zero, the ugly will be forgiven. And if they track precisely for the turret twirlers everybody will want to dance with them........

Ugly is not the point but it's ugly and they addressed non-existent problems that nobody (or few) are griping about.

Not sure if the field of view specs are correct on their website for the Freedom 2-7x33 but the VX2 2-7x33 has much better FOV. The Freedom is 21.5' - 10' at 100 yards and the VX2 is 44.6'-17.8'.

So I called Leupold today, the VX-Freedom has VX-2 equivalent glass, the rest of the scope design is new, no specs available until after SHOT show(was told that the tech I spoke with was unaware of any changes to the erector design).
