I’m looking into picking up a Tikka T3x Lite Stainelss in 6.5 creedmoor. What’s giving me pause is that I can’t find information on the box length. I want to load 143gr Hornady ELD-X but need to make sure I have a long enough magazine in the Tikka. Thanks!

Tikka only has one action length. They use bolt stops of different lengths and different magazines to make it work for different families of cartridges. The 6.5 Creed will come with the 308-length magazine and bolt stop. If that's not long enough for what you want to do, then you can swap the bolt stop and the magazine for a 30-06-length magazine and load bullets almost as long as you like. An aftermarket bolt stop is $30 here https://tikkaperformance.com/index.php?_route_=tikka-bolt-stop. Magazines are about $40 from a number of places, so the entire cost should be well under $100. I thought Darrick said the new 6.5 comes with a different mag than the 308 ones

I tried to order an extra magazine from Tikkaperformance and they said the 6.5 CM mag is different. I looked on the mag and it says M+ and is longer than the M magazine. I'm not sure what else is different about them other than the length.

Perfect! There’s a great photo in there comparing the “M+” magazine that ships with the T3x as compared to the old T3 mags. Although the mags are interchangeable, the 143gr ELD-x easily fits in the new M+ mag but not in the older T3 mag.

I think I saw on tikka performance that they are taking pre-orders for Billet magazines that go 2.9.

In the long 6.5 Creed T3x thread, someone measured the new "M+" magazine that comes with the 6.5s at 2.98". Plenty of room for 143gr ELDxs without doing any mods. If you find the thread, I believe that the measurement and pictures are on page 6.

So if I want to lengthen my 7-08's box, from Tikka Performance, can I just order the WSM box, or is there an additional bolt stop mod needed?
Edit: Never mind, saw where the WSM and SA are the same length.

Here is a picture of a 140 grain Open Tip Match Bullet from American Eagle loaded in a T3x magazine. [img][/img]
