I'd like to start off by saying that I'm well aware that 243 brass is easily attainable, and that there is no chance of a 260 ever finding it's way into my possession ever again. So, with that being said. I found a bunch of 260 remington brass from back when I owned one. Both my kids got 243's for Christmas and I'd like to be able to keep the brass for each separate and I currently have Winchester 243 brass and the 260 brass is RP headstamp. I'm a use what you've got kind of guy. So can 260 brass be sized to 243 with just a simple pass through the 243 die and some trimming? Or would they need to be neck turned? Both 243's are factory rifles so I'm sure they have generous chambers.

The short answer is yes. I sold my 260 and have necked down my brass to shoot in my 243. To be sure you're OK with the necked-down brass, measure the neck O.D. of a 243 case fired in your rifle and compare it to the neck O.D. of a piece of 260 brass necked down and loaded with a bullet. If you have enough clearance, you are good to go. You might even see an improvement in accuracy if your chamber's neck area is a bit sloppy.

If it were me, I'd sell or trade it. The Rem. 260 brass isnt widely available, so it should be easy to sell.
If it is for kids, it is important that they learn to use proper ammo in a rifle. Even though it would be correct, the headstamp issue is misleading, and could lead to confusion or mistakes.

For some reason, I would never resize any brass with one caliber's headstamp. to use in a different one.........especially when the other's brass is so readily available. That's just me. It wouldn't hurt anything, but I still wouldn't do it.

my only reservation...
When I got my first 260 in 1998, I bought 200 pieces of brass from Remington...
My rifles so chambered have shot 308 and 708 head stamped brass ever since..
Remington made 260 brass was the worse brass for QC I've ever used...
so instead of necking it to anything else... I let it decorate the trash can...
I've had people even offer to give me the 260 Rem brass they had, after getting rid of their 260 for something else, newer...
I passed on it, every time...

Life span of a case was 2 firings max on average..
neck splits, rims, at the web..case cracking... about anything you could think of..
really was the only Remington brass that I ever had severe issues with...
as an alternative, you can abuse their 308 brass over and over, and it keeps on hanging in there.
my issues were just their 260 Brass...

I'm not sure the quality of the brass because I have none, but I did see some Nosler .260 Rem Brass at Fleet Farm yesterday. I believe it was $35/50 brass.

my issues were just their 260 Brass... I've had good luck with Rem 260 brass when loading for a friends rifles, but none of it was recent stuff. I loaded tons of Rem 308 with nice results before their QC went to pot a while back. (badly uneven neck walls) Interestingly some of the best case necks I've ever measured came from a couple of boxes of base line Cor Lokt factory rounds in 243. These were not new stuff either.

Rems newer 260 brass is good to go. I have a few.
If I were OP I'd run it.

Trade it and get properly headstamped brass.
Kids and "wrong" headstamps don't mix well and teach bad habits.

It'll work just fine. I've necked down lots of 308 brass for a couple of different 7-08's, and you're talking about the same thing here. The comments on neck thickness are valid, but I would be surprised if most factory actions would have any problems with this.
