Needing another rimfire rifle for day/night suppressed pest/varmints. I’ll be swapping a day and thermal in and out, for mostly subsonic use with the suppressor. It’s be nice if it took Ruger mags. Unsure on semi, bolt or some toggle setup like PWS....but seems a 10/22 copy with sturdier receiver and rails is in order....I’m just not up to speed here. Light is nice. Accurate is a must...eyes to 50 and raccoon heads to 100, if possible. It’s gonna get heavy w/thermal of my buddy’s on it.....until I can swing my own. Suggestions and insight appreciated. Thanks

Bill

You can't go wrong with KIDD. Use one of their lighter barrels and I think it covers all your bases.

Thinking a Kidd rifle, all up, is about twice $ what I had in mind. Maybe I’ve been out of the rimfire loop longer than I thought. LOL Maybe I could build one?

Just add this to a factory takedown 10/22

Not sure about accuracy, but an option to look at.

Not happening. I have a suppressor. I have a Takedown. I’m not keeping my Takedown. I don’t need the Takedown feature vs rigidity and potential rail real estate for thermals/NV devices. Even concidering having a 10/22 barrel threaded into the receiver and doing away with the V-block. I may just try to find a used factory target and send it off for chamber, bolt, and trigger work, I guess.

If this is a porch gun I would say go with a 20 cal maurader (high pressure pellet gun) and call it a day.

Not just a ‘porch gun’. I’ve found an old tube fed 22s/l/lr repeater and CBs is waaay better for that than my air guns. I dumped my air guns because the CBS are more quiet in a longer barrel 22. This will be for all around small game hunting and night work on semi-suburban coyotes down through smaller varmints. We are having some serious issues with coyotes taking dogs around here. War has been declared. LOL It’s perfectly fine here under our small town ordinances to shoot them. I’m just trying to minimize the profile for those neighbors that my centerfires would disturb in the night. wink

Thanks, but (again) not springing a grand on a KIDD. That’s about twice what is worth, to me.

Whiskey....yes the KIDD are a few bucks....can't dispute that. However, their precision, reliability, and ergos are undeniable. Coupled with the use of the fantastic mags.....

I've shot one next to a slew of 54s, 52s, Kimbers, Coopers, CZs, and vanilla 10/22s and i'm fairly impressed. They got more than a few things right.

I looked at one of those Ruger Team USA Race Rifles a few years ago. It was pretty cool looking, but I couldn't wrap my head around how a 10/22 could cost $600 !! 😂😂

I get some extra play$, maybe. But that’s a 22. A rimfire. It better be a freaking magic wand in a wild hog’s eyeball at 100. LOL

If you strip off some of the great add-ons of a Kidd barreled upper, you will get the price down quite a bit. Certifiable's recommendation of a lighter barrel knocks some $$'s off the price, as would foregoing one of their high end triggers.

I must say, though. The 2-stage Kidd trigger I have on my gun is probably/possibly the best trigger I've got on any gun I own. Not kidding.

...and if giving up on mag compatibility, maybe just try a new Tikka?

Stainless CZ or the Tikka will be the next rimfire I buy. RAR Compact would be sweet too

Wish I knew which chamber types they all have. Most anything is probably gonna be set up for more consistency than the Ruger standard.

I have a standard 10/22 I may just custom out later. Thinking this needs to be some sort of manual action/bolt for serious quiet work.
