Not just guns.

You aren’t going to pass down your f150 to grandkids. Or your timex watch. Or harborfreight ratchet set.

What happened was Klinton, Bush and Obongo, along with a policy of being a “service” based nation rather than manufacturing.

Everyone wants to make $25 an hour pushing a broom and pay $200 for a $1500 rifle.

Bean Counters and younger people are focused on plastic and steel .

The bean counters are only doing what the investor demands. Pretty simple really. I am guessing that Ruger is making a pile of more money selling plastic than they did selling #1's, #3's, lever 22's and 44's, SxS shotguns, African and Express Rifles...

Like everything, there is a balance. A short sighted focus on the bottom line does not always equate to long term success. In fact, it’s been the down fall of a lot of business.

Not to mention the greedy, corrupt labor unions that infect the corrupt, leftist democrap-run northeastern states where most gun companies were based from their beginnings.

What happened.. Destruction of the Union. Capitalism... gotta make everything cheaper and cheaper, cut benefits for the workers, use old machines, squeeze everything out of the product.

Take a look at the European makers.. there are videos on youtube.

Clean factories, highly paid workers in unions, educated in solid institutions, state of the art cnc machines, management and workers cooperating together...

600 bucks is not a "price point", that's a lot of money for a .22 pistol and the buyer should have every expectation of top quality.

That Mark IV was built to a price point. Why do some people think a firearm's price is determined by caliber? It can and will cost almost as much to build a quality .22 as it does any other caliber firearm. $600 is not a lot of money for any firearm these days. I remember when you could get a Browning Superposed for under $400 and you could get a new car for $3K. Costs go up, as does wages. I'm more able to afford a $4K shotgun now than I was a $400 shotgun 25 years ago. If that Ruger Mark IV was not built to a price point it would be made with all machined forged steel parts, hand fitted and extensively tested before shipping and would cost you about $2K. The action on my .22 benchrest rifle, which was not built to a price point but was built to be perfect, cost me $1,500. For just the action! We can still make them near perfect, it's just going to cost more than most would want to pay.

Lots of interesting thoughts

But I can tell you this I would not trade any on my "Pro Series" Smiths for any of my old run of the mill 18, 27,57s etc

One thing I understand it that the evil finish that is no longer environmently friendly is a part of it

So.. you say GM.

How many corporations, without Unions has shut down during the last 40 years?
How many corporations, without Unions has moved overseas of down south during the last 40 years?
How many corporations, without Unions has fumbled and fcuked up a good thing?

For every One thats gone under because of Unions, you could list dozens thats gone under because of capitalism looking to send work offshore.

You have swallowed what the Multi National Corporations wants you to swallow...

Dont stand up with your fellow worker... stand alone and see who gives a fcuk when jobs go south or to other [bleep] states in the US, that undercuts high paying northern states.

The 2 jobs that I worked at, Trane for 12 years, and USPS for 31 years, were both union jobs. I saw unions in action.......and paid a lot of money to them, money that they spent to promote the Democrat Party, who in turn, did everything in their power to destroy the very foundation this country was built on. The only thing they did for me was to lighten my wallet.

I normally don't pile on and criticize posters that I don't agree with, the way that some on here do. But, I understand why some posters call you names. You're about as eat up with liberalism as anyone I've ever seen.

Socialist troll speaks again,

"Workers Unite! Unfetter yourselves from the shackles of Capitalism!"

That stuffed worked really well in the Soviet Union, didn't it? You gotta a 5 year plan like Stain? How about a Great Leap forward like Mao? Can you kill more than 30 Million of your own people through starvation like they did. I'm sure you would only starve out the red states.

Yeah that unionshit is so good, that foreign auto makers now make more vehicles in the US than Detroit. Toyota just announced new HQs in Alabama. Mercedes Benz and Porsche are in Atlanta. SC, GA, and AL are home to assembly plants for BMW, MB, Hyundai and Kia to name just a few. Common denominator? Right to Work States.

FO commie!

You ignorant idiot.

Europe as a social model? A place where upward mobility is impossible? Where factories are clean and tidy, and the workers educated in in solid institutions. LOOK AT THE WORKERS! You are seeing the product of West Cultural not yet totally destroyed by 3rd world immigration and minorities sucking the system dry.

I’m trying to understand the liberal position on all this. The old time liberals and commies were I favor of unions, the workers, higher wages and all that. And all those closed shop states are overwhelmingly Democrat today. One tactic of unions was/is strikes. In the old days if someone tried to cross the picket lines to work, they got the [bleep] beat out of them. Why? Because people willing to do that undermined the strikers and drove down wages. All of this was approved and sanctioned by the Democrats.

So now, those same Democrats are in favor of importing millions of workers from schithole countries who will omelets with those high wage earners for jobs and drive wages down across the board. That makes a lot of [bleep] sense.
