Considering it was right after 1800 (IIRC) and we were forced to take Oklahoma  and all... But Russia is the one that really screwed up. We bought AK right after the Civil War for about a quarter the money and only got three-quarters the area... but there were no coonasses! The difference in cost was huge considering it was well over 50 years later...

Napoleon refilled his coffers with the later intent of retaking Louisiana from the US for "breach of contract". Didnt happen due to unforseen circunstances. The debacle in Russia and loosing His base of operations in Haiti to révolutionnaires.
