We've had so much rain that overnight the water is running over in my pond and down a drainage.
To the SW I have a neighbor whose pond is backed up way above normal. The 'actual' rain started @ dark yesterday. It misted and drizzled in the afternoon. I dumped out 3 1/2" this AM and it's still raining.
It has rained so much the horses are tired of being in the barn.
So................. high centered.
UPDATED at 2:18 CST
SINCE I dumped 3 1/2" early, I have had an additional 1" SO FAR today.

Okey Dokey - Thursday AM 2/22 ->-> 11:32 AM CST Finally I caught a break in the RAIN. From Tues pm--> Wed pm, I dumped out 5.4" of rain. It hasn't rained this AM yet! There is more on the way. The radar showed it's raining at Hope, AR moving NE toward me right now. About 9:00 AM I went to shoot a group and graph. I was in the process of setting up to GROUP first. I happened to look across the fence and LESS than 50 yds. away I saw this fawn. I took the pic with my Iphone. It took me a little while before I shot the first shot. After the 1st shot I walked to the target to mark # 1. I looked over and the fawn was laying down ---> I thot it had moved on into the brush but it didn't. It was laying there after the first shot. look R of Center. I walked back to the truck and shot FOUR more shots. Walked to target and -->> Still there!! I'm raising my deer to NOT be gun shy. Jerry

# 2 on 2/22 11:50 AM CST I have ONLY bore sighted the scope in the OLD fashioned way. I looked thru the bore and adjusted the scope to get on target at 20 yds. It was ON PAPER at 100 yds. I marked # 1 before I shot anymore. These loads used the SAME NEW UNfired brass and the SAME primers as last week. This group measured 3/4" NOT counting # 4 shot. I was distracted about the fawn. I tried to shoot and look QUICK after # 4 so I wasn't focused. This is the FIRST group that I have shot in this rifle. I intend to use Surplus 4831 because I have so much of it and HUNT it. With a 3/4" FIRST group I'm PLEASED. I can't move the bullet farther out and I don't know IF moving it deeper would help? At least I'm OKAY. I have all Spring and Summer to meditate and ?possibly? experiment. THEN I set up to graph. I used the SAME brass as last week BUT a different primer LOT. The Xteme Spread was 36 fps and the Average was 3216 --- If you look on P 2 the same load with diff primers Averaged 3215. So they're nearly the same. So Far So Good Jerry

Great shooting, Jerry.
The fawn reminds me of an incident at our range a few months ago. The range I belong to has a "if it breathes; don't shoot it policy." Several us were out there along with the range director when a bobcat walked out and sat down in the 300-yd area during a live range session. Nobody noticed until I pointed it out. My buddy came close to shooting despite the gentlemen that runs the range saying "if you shoot it, you lose your membership."

Thanks D M D Well I own my range >> pasture>>. I've hunted and killed ENUFF deer to tell a FAWN from a grown deer with my naked eyes. I can also tell a puppy from a grown dog. Some ?hunters? people can't. The fence is in its condition because of deer going over and trying to go thru it. Good News/ Bad News Since the 5.4" total rain since Tues PM.... I've had another 1 1/4" this afternoon and it IS raining now. We're supposed to have rain off/on thru Saturday. Thanks D M D.... I think I like it. Jerry

A Comparison of the SAME Pic In the First Pic the holes might indicate bullet wobble as in INstability. That is NOT the case. I turned the target over and used a table knife to push the paper around the holes BACK to it's real position. When I took the pic, I simply laid it on the table and click. After examining the pic it looked like the bullets were wobbling. Now look at it with the paper simply moved where it should have been. # 2 didn't have enuff paper on the back side to round it out. Well, it's not likely to get wettER. Fri and Sat we had burst of hard rain. The ground was SO saturated it built up before it could DRAIN off. I had my truck in the pasture and it was so mucky I had to use 4X4 on level ground.
We're NOT supposed to have any more till Wed or Thurs. Hopefully it won't be much.
Thanks
Jerry

.....The distance to lands is a little longer than the magazine will accept. I will measure that distance and then the COAL to fit the mag today. ^^^^ That is from P 1 of this thread. The SAME loads were 140 fps faster in the 700 than they are in the T 3x. TODAY I did a little measuring. The COAL in the T 3x is +.12" 'more' than the 700. The mag will NOT accept that .12" longer cartridge. Is .12" more freebore ENUFF to drop the velocity ? I can't USE rounds loaded to that length in the mag. Maybe I can load a little more powder ? ? ? hee, hee, hee,.......... Oct 13, 2018 First Day - Antlerless Only - First Shot at Game - 7:30 AM UN neglected 7mm R M, Tikka T 3X Lite SS If you look at the ammo holder, THE empty case. I haven't counted up but it has been several years since I have NOT killed a deer with a NEW to me rifle on the FIRST day to hunt it. Thnx to 16bore & DesertMuleDeer. I guess I'll have to get a new rifle for every NEXT season. Jerry

One thing I wanted to add, those 700's have a long magazine box, so I can seat my bullets out farther than most rifles.. I am not sure about the Tikkas!! My T3x 30-06 and Sako A7 7mag do not have a lot of leg room

don't you love it when a plan comes together. Congrats on the venison! Yes it is satisfying and as ANY hunter knows, it doesn't always work out that way. Thanks Jerry

This pic is from Oct 13, 2018, posted above; That was the First Day of our Antlerless Only Modern Gun season. First shot at game with Tikka T3X SS Lite 7mm RM. This is TODAY - Nov 10, 2018. Opening Day Regular Modern Gun Season. Second Shot at game, same rifle. We had our Coldest Day - so far - this Fall. He was the 6 th deer. 2 Does w/fawns, and 1 young Forked Horn then thisun. His antlers were smaller than body size indicated. He weighed 155 lbs. He was +/- 180 yds -- Bang - Flop. I only have 18 rounds left of the box I loaded this Fall. This Tikka T3X SS Lite 7 RM -- Ain't Forgotten. Jerry

My T3x 30-06 and Sako A7 7mag do not have a lot of leg room My .284 Win shooting 180 Berger VLD's, has .100" room from the tip of the bullet, to the front of the magazine. Isn't that enough??? Great job putting it all together, Jerry.
