We all recognize that there is a portion of the Left that is all for gun control as a means to control the population. Chuck Schumer fits that bill. Diane Feinstein fits that bill. However, what about the mindless drones that inhabit your neighborhoods that never have had firearms, don't understand the Right and advantages our Constitution provides, and are all for banning guns? I'm especially talking about the soccer moms and their metrosexual men.

They think that if all guns were banned and confiscated, we'd have a very safe and peaceful society, free from crime, free from fear of being robbed or mugged, and that their kids would be safe from violence, and that everyone would be happy and cheery and run little shops selling flowers and knick knacks. Here's what they don' see:

Public safety would dissolve as crooks would be emboldened knowing that there are no threats to them. Home invasions would increase, muggings would increase. The single women out there who are "afraid of guns" and "want them gone" would have zero chance of protecting themselves against multiple attackers. The attacker wouldn't even need illegal guns. A pipe, a chain, a baseball bat. Mace isn't going to stop 3-4 but a Glock will, if you want to make the effort to get trained. You'd have the choice.

So instead of a peaceful Pleasant Valley full of multicultural families (all Ivy League educated if you believe Pop Culture) and free roaming herds of unicorns eating moonbeams and fairy tales, you'd have Mexico. A land run by drug cartels and gangs who had free rein to to use force to do anything they wanted.

This is what they can't see.

Exactly. Gun Free Zones have done nothing but promote mass shootings. And they want to make the whole country a Gun Free Zone.

Look at Great Britain and France to see what our future could look like. Or NYC, LA etc. pretty scary to say the least.

Not to needlessly disagree and I’m not trying to start an argument but I don’t think most people who don’t like guns particularly women, even think about it as much as you just reasoned. I think it is much more visceral and instinctive than that. Guns are literally scary and icky to them.

Liberalism is leading us directly into the words written in Revelation. Until the guns are gone, it can't happen.

I’ll also say for myself that I can reason all these elaborate justifications for gun ownership and they are all valid and true to one degree or another. But in the end, I just like guns.

It’s becoming very clear over a half century of evolving almost-soft porn on TV, teaching evolution (a philosophy of history), as settled scientific fact, coddling kids, and criminals, and mistaking all cultures as equal, that the harvest being brought in is exceedingly wormy.

Add to that belittling the sanctity and dignity of life with three generations now aborted, poor people made broken in spirit, sexual promiscuity, broken families with divorce as the easy-out option, poor education, and its its fairly clear that we are committing self-murder.

Guns were never the issue. But the secularists can’t go deeper; root-cause analysis and corporate introspection would mean they would have to admit they have been wrong on almost everything from culture to politics for most of a century — they got nothin.’

A quick glance at American Thinker, Drudge, etc shows a lot of people see through the thin, clear venier of bussing these high school kids (high school kids! With pimples!) to the Fl state capitol to put on anti-gun demonstrations. It also shows the crass cynicism of the left in using HS kids whose foremost goal is texting and hanging out.

It’s why I believe we are as a nation balkinized beyond redemption. It’s because the answers are not hard but they are anathema to the left. It’s not and never has been about guns. But guns are the scent and the bloodhounds will not leave that trail.

In the absence of guns, the young, the strong, and the many will prey at will on the old, the weak and the few. Hatari has it exactly right. If I at 63 have to duke it out hand to hand with a young buck, I'm going to lose. Whether I live or die is entirely up to him. But if I've got a gun...now I like my odds a lot better. Someone once said, "God created all men equal, but Sam Colt kept them that way."

The "naive" left? No. The intentionally misled and deluded left, which is run by moneyed interests that want America the Republic to be gone. They want global domination. The only way to do this is to end nation-states in favor of regional bodies with zero identity who are administered from a vast distance. This isn't hard to see or understand. The globalists have been very open about their plans.

What most don't seem to understand here is the most of the politicians on the right are also on board, and have been shifting their base accordingly for several generations. Reagan is a prime example. He built up a huge military, more than doubling the national debt. That was his part in the play. Then you can look at what Bush Sr did, including the Rio Declaration, initiating the US's entry into Agenda 21 protocols. Another "conservative".

This latest mass murder was as good as advertised and predicted. Irresponsibility by knowing grown-ups and agencies (which by itself almost seems implausible) was the issue on so many levels that parents, the locality, and even the nation should be from outraged to very, very stern.

And then, the sheriff holds news conferences as to this horrific (it was), unexpected tragedy (it wasn’t and it was) and detail the chronology of events. Pure exercise in optics absolution, and giving the next whacked-out kid an idea.

The Gun-Grab mentality is so lame. We’ve had guns during the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s...with no student mass shootings. I ask, what has changed?

If we only include Americans of European ancestry in our statistics, the US (one of the most heavily armed civilian societies on earth) has near the least criminal violence of any nation on earth. Our problem isn’t a gun problem. It’s a growing demographics problem.

That’s certainly part of it but not the whole answer.

Are you aware that, per capita (that’s the key), there are four Western European nations with higher rates of mass shootings than the US? And those nations have far stricter gun control than we do.

No I wasn’t. But I’m not surprised either. But to the left, it’s irrelevant (if they even know it which “at the top” I’m sure they do).

They are not looking for facts or even the right answer — they are looking to grab the guns.

The supporters of the democrats and support the elimination of guns for the people are known as "USEFUL IDIOTS".
They are "useful" to end private gun ownership and then will essentially be slaves of the government.

I'm not surprised either, but I am curious: which 4 countries?

Mistake Number One:

Assuming your enemy is naive, stupid, cowardly, unmotivated and unjust in their motives.

"Maybe we're all happy."

"Go to the sporting goods store. From the files, obtain form 4473. These will contain descriptions of weapons and lists of private ownership."
