Is the meostar worth twice the cost of the meopro? Excellent question! When is good enough good enough? This is a question that can only be answered with a personal observation. If the MeoStar is a hair away from an SLC why would anyone spend the extra money for the SLC? If the SLC is scary close to an EL why would anyone pay the difference for an EL? Again, when is excellent quality satisfying enough to stop looking for the next best thing? If a car does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds why trade it in when the newer model comes out and does 0-60 in 4.1? Stop shaking your head and laughing cause you just thought of someone you know who would do this The MeoPro is an excellent binocular, however, the MeoStar will be noticeably superior at 1st and last light. This is where it really counts. In my opinion, since Meopta lowered their pricing, in the sub $500.00 price range there is now no better choice than the MeoPro series and in the "Alpha Class" at under $1,000.00 street price the MeoStar series is an amazing buy and competes extremely well with anything up to a couple of thousand dollars. Of course it would be my pleasure to discuss which would be best for you and your price on whichever one interests you

Do you have any demo Meopta? I'm considering 8x32 up to 10x42.
I've used the Japanese Minox HG quite a bit. How would the Meopro compare otically?

The HG is superior to the MeoPro, however, IMO the MeoStar is slightly better than the HG. It will depend on his eyesight if that MeoStar improvement over the HG is worthwhile. The HG is a great binocular and should satisfy any user.
I've said MANY times that what we see when we are north of 40 years old is not what we saw when we were in our 20's and 30's. Subtle differences disappear and tiny upgrades mean nothing.
For most folks the MeoPro is enough as far as quality. It really is a very good optic.
As I stated earlier in this thread:
"When is good enough good enough? This is a question that can only be answered with a personal observation. If the MeoStar is a hair away from an SLC why would anyone spend the extra money for the SLC? If the SLC is scary close to an EL why would anyone pay the difference for an EL?
