If you have a 243 that is super accurate and shoots 55 up to 100+ grain bullets why bother unless you just want to try a 22-250. I've had 6 243s and still looking to get one that matches the accuracy I have with my 22-250s. I have really wanted the 243 to be my favorite cartridge but I don't see it happening in this life time. I guess I need someone to talk me into keeping my 243s.

I've found the 22-250 much easier to load for and have won a couple bench matches with the 22-250.

Despite the negativity to the 22.250...
Personally I'd never be without 223s, 22.250s and 243s....
calibers like the 06 or 270 are the ones that sit in the gunsafe and get dusty....

My varmint hunting is usually coyotes and coons with the usual other rat bastard varmints. My deer hunting nowadays is in some thick country where you can rarely see 75 yards unless you bulldoze a sendero. I can load the 22-250 down for the around the house stuff, load it moderately for the yearly prairie dog shoot and push a 60 grain HP at 3300 fps for coyotes. When I hunted with a 243 I took the same shot placement I would have used for the 22-250 and could see no real improvement on DRT. I have burned out 1 22-250 barrel but either 3 or 4 243 barrels and I don't and never did shoot the 243 as much as I have shot various 22-250 rifles. I look at this comparison differently, why own a 243 at all? A 6 Creed would be a far better choice considering barrel wear but for deer and feral hogs in the thick why not a 30-30 or a 308? I would far rather have as varmint and game rifles a 22-250 and a 270 or 308 rather than just a 243.
