The dad is a modern, wannabe famous, richard noggin.
He made an ass of his kid on an international forum.
I guess he made appearances on national shows, just to
get the world to look at him.

He needs his teeth knocked loose.
No , I don't think he is a good dad!

As far as making his kid walk to school after getting kick off for bullying?
I would have kick the kids butt first, and he would have walked to school.

But, I would not have farther humiliated my son by making a "look at me video" for
Facebook.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him get investigated by social services.

An acquaintance's boy was running on a mountain back road to train for a 10k race.
His dad was following in a car.
They noticed a car pass, then turn, pass, turn and then continue on its original course.
A couple days later, child welfare folks were standing on the porch, asking questions
about him "chasing his child down the road with a car." He wasn't real nice, but he explained,
and it ended there.

I make my kids walk to school every day. However, unlike my dad, I will give them a ride when the temperatures are below zero.

My oldest boy did a LOT of running for a couple years when we were overseas and he was really misbehaving. To the point where he was faster than anyone else in the school, including the 12 year olds. Not in a sprint mind you, but after about 200-300m, no one else could keep up. He was 9-10 at the time. I called him the fastest kid on the island. His brother would occasionally have to do some running, but nowhere near as much.

He's really gotten his act together now, but occasionally he and his younger brother will have to do a 20 minute run - about two miles. I won't have them do it when it's seriously raining or the temperatures are too low, but it's waiting for them when the conditions improve.

But heck if I'd put it out on Youtube or Facebook...

And yes, while the developers didn't design it for this purpose, there's actually an app for this...

Kid has A.D.D. Physical activity is one of the best ways to get them "back on track". It literally is an uphill battle both ways. Maybe dad was over zealous, but who knows.

those are DGAF eyes. He looks like he's playing along with his dad but somehow has other plans. As far as running in it, we used to lay outside in warm spring rains.

A one mile run aint much of a punishment.

Hell, if we had a dollar or two we'd do that to get to the store to buy candy.

Maybe the "punishment" worked. Who knows.
Putting the stuff on FB was just stupid.

I'm ok with it being on facebook, because you know all his friends saw it. Bullying is so dangerous today because of social media, so the punishment should not be private. He should have controlled the visibility, but you can't do everything.

What's not there is that according to what I read, the kids behavior has massively improved due to his teachers, he's more focussed in class and not disruptive. If the above ADD claim is right, then awesome.

Maybe ADD kids should run a couple laps before school :-)

Multiple Studies ,done over the years ,say that kids improve greatly ,when they are out at recess regularly and getting regular exercise. So this was a double win with the boy getting exercise and time to think about his bullying actions and of course now that he's back in school he wants to pay attention and not get in trouble again. Knowing that dad is a no bullshit guy he has better respect for his father.

How do you bust a kids butt and not leave a mark? Better he run.

Alinskys plan is progressing nicely. They have taken control of our kids and schools.

I have always thought that lightning strikes could be put to good use if they could be trained to seek out bullies.

If the kid was a better negotiator he'd have been riding his bike to school for those three days....

It's too true to be funny. Ex is a therapist and works with these kids day in/day out. Unstructured play is an absolute necessisity. Works for adults too. I could tell you stories.....

Kids (and adults for that matter) need a physical outlet. Always have, always will.

That's nothing. My wife's best friend. Her daughter was about ten and wouldn't find her shoes in the morning before school holding everyone up. Her boyfriend, made her get in the car and took her to school in the middle of our Central New York winter with no shoes on.

You can use your imagination as to what that stirred up!

My parents made me wear a tie to school every day for a month because I got caught mooning a girl and her mother.....

I was very traumatized.
