I do! bought ten boxes before they went off the market Smart man. I have 11 boxes squirreled away. I have had four .257 Roberts rifles and this Ultralight will be number five. The 100gn Hornady has shot very well in all of the four plus my Ultralight .250 Savage. This will be the bullet I will load in the new one. I also have a box and a half of 100gn .257 Norma bullets too. They have shot outstandingly in my .25-06 but I haven't taken any game with them yet.

I'd look hard at the TTSX, and not much further.....
When I had my Bob, I ran the 90gr Barnes X into sub-MOA groups with IMR 4831 (as I recall, it's been a few years..). Hard not to think that the TTSX would be any less efficient at making living things expire.
Kaiser Norton I shoot the same bullet though my Model 70 featherweight, but with IMR 4350 and everything I've ever shot with it is DRT. They don't take another step. . Sadly the 90 gr. TSX is no longer made , but a generous member on here sent me a complete box of them for free.

I went to the range with Jorge on Saturday. He had a load with 100 grain Hornady's, 3 shot's all touching. I told him then his load developement was finished....

Nah, he ain't gonna be happy until he can use every 1" grid on the target paper as a separate target. Actually, no. I really don't have any expectations out of this "baby caliber" when it comes to hunting, other than the odd deer or hog down here.

I was up in Atlanta w Hatari and was too lazy to clock, but I'm guessing 2900 more or less. I will clock this weekend.

2900 with that Hornady will take care of deer no problem. The 100 grain Ballistic Tip is a winner at that speed too.

In 2002 I built a 257 Roberts Ackley on a VZ24 action with a Lothar Walther light varmint barrel.
In 2012 I built a 257 Roberts Ackley rimmed on a Uberti 1885 Winchester action with a Shilen #3 barrel
In 2016 I built a 25-06 on a 1953 Winchester M70 action with a Shilen #3 barrel
In 2016 I bought a 25-06 Browning B78 and made a forestock for it.
In 2017 I built a 250 Savage on a 2003 Savage 12VFSS with a Lilja #3 barrel
In 2017 I built a 257 Roberts on a 1941 Arisaka with a Win M70 25-06 take off barrel

All but one of my 1/4s were built somewhere between 1850 and 1951. The youngest was built as a .22-250 back in the '70s or so but got converted to a .250-3000. Two of them, .25-20's are ancient old things that make me smile any day. The rest search for a master that is worthy. I try. Stuff dies.

Quarter bores are boring Just a stumble between 6 and 6.5 mm ... I've had em over the years a Bob / IMP Bob and '06 but was never impressed much although the deer and speed goats didn't seem to mind !

I'm speechless. Nope just been a 6.5 whore way too long and long before it was hip ...My 6mm heavies would almost hang with the Bob and Swede just blows it away however as I told jorge I'd been all over his sweet MS even if it was a 270

The 257 is a transition bullet for me.
I have the reamers for 223 and 22-250 .... I like the 223 [the small one] the best
I have the reamers for 6mmBR, 243, and 6mmRem.... I like the 6mmBR [the small one] best.
I have the reamers for 250 Sav, 257 Roberts, 257 Roberts Ackley, and 25-06...... I like the 257 Roberts [the middle one] the best
I have the reamers for 260 and 6.5-06 .... I like the 6.5-06 [the big one] the best.
I have been building a 7mmRemMag rifle, but this year I am building a couple 7mmSTW [even bigger]
I have the reamers for 308 and 300 WinMag ... I like the 300WM [the big one] the best.

So I got out to the range today to shoot my 257 Roberts. It's an 03a3 with Timney trigger, 24 inch Douglas medium 1/10 barrel set in a 60's style Herters stock. I haven't shot it in about 11-12 years.
I went to check the zero with the tipped TSX bullets, they were 100 grainers. 2 shots hit inside a 1 inch bull. I then tried 1 round of the 75 grain Vmax that I had with. That bullet hit in the bull too.
What surprises me is that rifle, with 2 different bullet weights hits about the same POI at 100 yards. I have had rifles in the past that would have required adjustment. I guess I need some good fortune once in awhile

Nice nice rifle.....I have its twin.....looks like buhler rings....nice setup....mine came with an echo removable side mount that is so amazingly machined. It hold zero no matter how many times you take it on and off...it had a weaver 2.5x5 adjustable on it that was the first variable scope on th market according to L&K scope repair...he worked for weaver..I replaced the scope with a Lyman all american 2.5 with post....
A friend of mine gave me 6 boxes of old super x 117 RN....they shoot nice ...for a little more punch I load 100 v with 117 hor sp...I have never shot it for paper groups, it would be a wast of time with the 2.5x scope....but shooting off hand and shooting sticks it's the perfict platform...what a nice rifle to hunt with....
Now I need one in 7x57

Back when I first started hunting I had a 30-06 ...wanting a more modern rifle and cal...I bought a 243. All the gun magazines touted it as the ultimate dual purpose calibure.....and my new wife could use it...what I found was it just didn't give the bang flop of the 06 and damaged more meat....had to do lots more tracking....hav since learned bullets were as much to blame but non the less I sold the 243
I looked ant some ballistics and decided something a tad slower and a tad heavier bullet might be better...wala 257 Roberts seemed to fit the bill...I bought a mod 70 FW and have been a fan ever since...
