I've been talking to an outfitter about applying for Colorado Elk Area #1.

Anyone have any experience there??? Thoughts?? Suggestions???

Does the outfitter have the private land on top? If not, fuggetaboutit.....

One of my buddies has been putting in for an either sex license for almost 20 years in that area. According to the draw reports, it’ll take 23 points or better to hunt anything with antlers. Cow tags are not hard to draw. Unless he has a landowner tag voucher in hand, you’ll be hunting the gals unless you have a pile of preference points. Happy Trails

I drew unit 2 in 1994 with five preference points. I redrew unit 2 in 2017 with 18 preference points again as a resident.. 1 or 2 will take many years to draw. Don't be discouraged.Keep putting in for it as a first choice each year & the time will come when you will draw it.
