I’ve had four Criterion Barrels, every one of them being better shooters than any other brand I’ve had. One of them was the heavy varmint contour, the other two light varmint contour. I observed that my light varmint .308 and 22-250 barrels grouped as well as my heavy varmint contour 6.5x47 barrel, so I thought for the 4th I’d try a light varmint 6.5x47 to see what’s up. It has not disappointed, grouping every bit as good as the heavy varmint contour. Here’s two five shot groups shot during load development. They are consecutive charges .4gr apart. The first measured .356” and the second .346”. When I overlaid the aiming points, the ten shots completely overlapped, clustering 10 shots into .4”. Thinking I’ll give the heavy sporter a try next... I love Criterion Barrels... John

Makes me wonder if there’s any point in paying for a gunsmith

Criterion threads and chambers them. Northland markets them and bead blast them if desired.

Very nice!! I'm enamored with the idea of a switch barrel rifle. Have a Savage that I could use, just have never done it. Yet.

Sweet there goes all the snobbery that the Criteions are the B team from Krieger. Does your DGA action have the barrel lug?

Did you mean barrel nut? Yes, it uses a savage barrel nut. You can see it in the pic below. John

Just spun a Criterion on a Bighorn in 20 prac.
Once I floated the bbl (Shilen 6 Dasher floated fine), work ups started jumping through the same hole.
The Shilen is no slouch either.
Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

John...this might be a stupid question, but I have a couple of rifles I am wanting to change the barrels out on and do it myself. I have gotten everything but the barrels because I am not sure what I want to chamber them in. One is a short action and the other long. But, do you rent or buy go/no go gauges, rent them, take the rifle to a gunsmith to do it, or just shoot them if the cartridge chambers okay in them?

I buy the go/no-go gages knowing I will use them multiple times and that they will last a lifetime. I install the barrels myself. What actions are you using? John

John...sorry, lost track of the thread. The long action I have is a Savage 110 and the short action is a Marlin XS7. Had planned on putting a 250 Sav barrel on the Marlin, but then was able to get an old tang safety 77 in the 250 so really don't know what I want in either rifle at this time. Thinking seriously about a 7 Mauser as I realized I don't have a 7mm rifle in the house. Problem is, I doubt I will ever use the gauges again. There is a gentleman who does barrel jobs about 45 mins. from my house that I am thinking about visiting 1 day to see how much he will charge to gauge the rifles for me when I get the barrels changed. Plus, it might help my decision to see which gauges he has to see what barrel(s) I will use. Thanks! Eddie
