A very serious ballot initiative:

Oregon initiative # 43 Please Read and Act Accordlingly

Given the political complexion of our state, I have serious concerns. While some aspects would obviously have to wade through the courts, that would take some time.

Many years back we lost the use of hounds for bear and lion as well as the use of baiting for bear. Ballot initiatives are a dangerous route, as they can effectively exploit an uninformed public.

It's Oregon, done deal, will pass without much effort.

This is potentially a big problem, although it is so far-reaching that I think it may not pass even if they succeed in getting it on the ballot. Basically, all semi-auto rifles that accept detachable magazines that could hold more than 10 rounds are banned or must be registered. It bans any .22 magazines over 10 rounds for semi-auto .22 rifles or pistols. That's going to affect a lot of people. And any magazine that holds more than 10 rounds must be "registered", even though magazines don't have serial numbers. A violation is a class B felony. That's pretty stiff. So they would be making felons out of tens of thousands of otherwise law abiding citizens.

So far the leftist politicians in Oregon are keeping this at arms length. I think they are worried it will bring out a lot of right leaning voters and might cause the Democrats to lose seats. We shall see.

I have many friends and some family in Oregon, it is totally dominated politically by the cities in the Western part of the state. Liberals all. I would not be at all surprised to see this pass.

Oregon is turning into California. Portland, Salem and Eugene is were the liberals live. And they vote liberal. Anti gun, tree huggers, and snowflakes. I am praying this does not get on the ballot.

I think you have it it backwards. My son and his fiance moved to Portland last year and they were both shocked at how bad Oregon snowflakes are compared to California snowflakes. She went on a company transfer so she has an apples to apples comparison.

personally I think what we need to ban is democRATS....

or at least make it to where they can't own firearms and can't try and pass laws having
everyone else banned from owning them.

Oregon became a real estate playground for the California rich to exploit years ago.....They bought up property all over our beautiful state. They brought with them their schitty driving skills. Their unfriendly attitudes of, I am better than you. Then propagated a lifestyle that you only saw if you were into weird porn. Weed? It's always been here...Now we have Gov. Kate Brown, sister to CA. Gov. Jerry Brown...Need, I say more.....I miss Vera Katz.

Actually since CA legalized it, many of those idiots are going back south like Homing Pigeons....

I heard a funny interview on local talk radio this morning...

a local Cave Junction "farmer", with his 5 acres was concerned about new local ordinances proposed
to take priority from Farms to housing development... he spoke at length of the local farmer's market down
in C.J. etc...

Afterwards, the announcer asked him if he grew dope...the guest went on and on about all the things he
was growing the last 5 years since moving from Vermont to Oregon... Finally the announcer asked him again
and he said "yeah, but reluctantly... since it was legalized and his high school kids have voiced desire to go
to college, he has been forced to convert his products from vegetables to Dope, so that he can afford to send
his kids to college starting this coming fall.... he started growing it last season and said he made a lot more
money selling dope that he did selling veggies... so he's growing it.. "but strictly for my kids college education"..

however he didn't say his name was Tommy Chong...
