Isn't that Timothy Treadwell's younger brother?
I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.

So what do people do with an alligator? (Besides molest them, apparently)
I know on the tv shows, they sell them but if you just have one tag, do you butcher them and eat them like a deer? In Florida you get two tags if you draw. And yes, people eat them. Butchering them looks like a huge PITA though. You can kill iguanas down there too and I'm looking forward to shooting the hell out of those ugly bastards. Dave

Dave It pretty much takes two guys to hunt, it''s more handy anyway. An agent lic is like 50 bucks, agent can do anything the lic. hunter can do . We normally just split costs, get one hunting, one agent lic. and we both get one gator each. You can go in the python hunting business down there... Homestead is a tuff little place, you staying outside it or right in town?

That's a good idea to save some coin. My son will be with so there will definitely be two of us. I'll be living in Homestead or Florida City. Not sure which just yet. Most criminals like me so I should be alright. I hate snakes. Travis

That's good info Jeff and thanks.
I really have no reason. That's the area I'm going to live and I've found hunting the areas close to home usually has better success rates. I'd go wherever I had to in the state.

I ate some fried alligator last week. It tasted like chicken breast to me. I've eaten legs off small ones in a sauce piquant. (spicy creole tomato sauce) They were nothing special. The skin on them sells for several dollars an inch. I used to work with a guy south of Houma, LA that got a bunch of tags every year. He made several thousand dollars during the season every year.He sold the skins and the meat. What he did was like Swamp people. His aluminum boat had some impressive bite marks on it.

This is an absolutely true story.
Was invited on a pig hunt in Palm Beach County back around 1970 or ’71. The guy we were hunting with borrowed a single shot .22 from his uncle, his hunting garb was a blue bathing suit. That was it – no shoes, no shirt, just the bathing suit.
As we were driving toward the pig hunting area along one of the numerous drainage canals he spots about a 4 foot gator sunning itself on the canal bank. We stop the jeep, he aims and fires at its head. Doesn’t kill it so it runs into the water. The canal is maybe 10 feet across and perhaps 3-4 feet deep in the middle, just enough so you can’t quite see the bottom through the dark brown water.
He gets in the canal, takes the .22 and starts dragging the sandy bottom with the barrel until he finds the gator. Then he puts his bare foot on the gator’s back and moves it up until he feels the depression at the back of the head, that’s where you aim to hit the brain. He aims the rifle by holding the muzzle between his big toe and the piggy stayed home toe, the entire rifle is underwater so he can’t see the sights. When he fires you could hear a little “bloomph” and a bubble comes up.
He didn’t kill the gator so it swims rapidly off a few feet, you can sort of make out the moving shadow against the canal bottom. He repeats the whole process – drag the bottom with the muzzle, find the alligator’s vulnerable spot with his foot, aim with his toes and fire. This time the gator’s four legs all went out straight. He grabbed it by the tail and tossed it up on the bank where I held it down while he cut the tail off and finished killing it.
And that was the great alligator hunt. I won’t even begin to recite the reckless stupidity of the pig hunt that followed.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

Had a family friend that lived in Homestead years ago. Loved to go down and visit. Used to be pretty rural country just a short trip to some killer fishing. Have no idea what it's like today.
I'd like to shoot a gator with a bow and hand line.
Look out for the Zika!

Small wildlife has already taken a beating by being gobbled up by the Pythons. Small game counts in SFL down by 90% in allot of areas. Somewhat limited public land hunting in SFL, and leases down there are expensive. There are plenty of Pythons, Iguanas, and Monitor Lizards, also the native Water Moccasins, and Eastern Diamondbacks. Clark/Frank/Fred/Deflave will have to become a reptile hunter, kinda like the Steve Irwin of SFL.
