This still doesn’t sound like an apology.

It isn't.

Paul,

That's the exact type of iguana I want to punch a hole through! You look like you're about to serenade the [bleep] thing.

Feel free to visit any time. Hopefully I own a boat by then.

What is the recommended caliber and load for iguanas? Do they charge? Taste like chicken? Bag limit?

What is it that PT Barnum said?

I was planning on using the Aguila subsonics with my suppressor. I have never eaten one but I assume lizard tastes like chicken.

They're an invasive species down there so I think you can shoot all you want.

There are some good videos of them getting whacked and stacked down in Puerto Rico on YouTube. But they use air rifles down there. I assume because they still haven't discovered gun powder.

Once I fished the flats, every other type of fishing paled in comparison. Offshore fishing is like trying to own a trophy wife, much better to rent a high dollar escort. Get a decent bay boat, or flats boat - I'd do my research though. Flat bottom boats like Carolina Skiffs are a bad move unless you enjoy back surgery, and definitely get a center console for whatever you decide on. Saltwater is much harder on equipment, so be prepared for the maintenance headaches. The Florida boys can give you a better 411 on the popularity of a high end fishing kayak, but a lot of guys in GA are leaving their flats/bass boats on the boat pad for the kayak.

If I were in Florida, I'd make the Tampa area my last stop south but would prefer the Steinhatchee area and anywhere north of there. Florida is thick with some crazy damned people, so you might want to leave your cock out to keep a third eye on things.

When you get settled in, PM me and I'll go fishing with you...it's the least I can do.

Thanks 4winds. I will be taking my NuCanoe along and hope it will get some use. Seems like there is a lot to do down that way and I'm looking forward to it.

I know I won't be in the nicest part of Florida but duty calls and all that so. Fugk it. I'm going.

Dave, if you really are going down south, and you eventually end up looking for a boat, I would highly recommend a bay boat in the 19-24 ft. range. There are a crap load of good used boats in Florida. You can take your time and find one with low hours in a very decent price range. We have a lot of boats here, but no where near the boats Florida has. My BIL lived in Ft. Meyers for several years building houses. A lot of new Floridians would buy boats because, well, they see everyone else with one. Eventually, they end up sitting in the yard never or rarely used. You can really find a diamond in the rough.

Dave no Florida boat experience but tons of New England fishing. Google Triumph 17 skiff. These boats are similar to a Boston Whaler but are constructed of plastic are practically unsinkable and clean up with Simple Green (no waxing needed either). They are no longer produced but used ones can be found. They also made deep-v center consoles with the same material. I can tell you for the flats the skiff (also a center console) will work fine and because of the hull material will work well in bays and inshore waters. The hulls flex not pound in rough rot water. They have videos out of their boats being dragged behind trucks and also on the end of a crane demolishing a house. Very durable low maintenance.

The Bizarre Foods guy, Andrew Zimmern, ate Iguana on one of his shows and said it tasted like chicken.

You can win money or something for shooting pythons, but they are apparently hard to find and kill. The pics I've seen looked like a great time though.

FLA is covered up with hogs, there are deer, but they are lacking compared to other states. Most sumbitches down there wind up getting leases in southern GA - there are big whitetails in SW GA. IDK if you can hunt black bear down there but they exist and can get rather large.

AFA gator hunting, bring 2 buddies if you are trying it on your own, you'll need the help. If not, get a guide. I hunted gators in south GA near Okeefenokee and fell in love with the swamps, it was fun. We used bow, snatch hook and harpoon. IMO the harpoon was the best. If you are wanting to know more, PM me.

Snakes never bothered me, just watch where your stepping and you'll be fine. If I hunt in GA where there are a lot of rattlers I might wear my turtleskin gators: https://www.amazon.com/TurtleSkin-TurtleSkin®-SnakeArmor-Snake-Gaiters/dp/B00ITZDL90 . They are incredibly light and a hell of a lot better than snake boots when it comes to the heat.

Four things I'll bet bothers you more than snakes down there...crazies, tourists, heat and bugs - trophy sized skeeters, flying roaches as long as a cell phone and the damn pecker gnats.

None of that would bother me, though, if I could only be on the water down there,..damn I love fishin!

Yeah I was looking on Cragislist and I thought 'Holy schit!' That's a lot of boats. I figure I will try and get settled and then take it from there.

Yeah that does not look fun doing it by yourself. I will have my son with me so we should be good to go.

I doubt I'll do any hog or deer hunting. I killed plenty of hogs in Texas and I don't think shooting deer in Florida would be worth my time after hunting Montana for 10 years.

I really hate snakes.

There's bad and good about every place I've ever lived. I doubt Florida is much different.

Travis

Are you schittin me? the regs are nothing like here in tax hell MN. I went fishing on the gulf coast last summer and had a blast. Just me and my friend from HS winging it. He moved there and bought a bay boat. My fishing license was $17. I can't fish in MN as a resident for $17 and in FL i could fish in the damn ocean.

My friend bought a new Sea Hunt 24 or 25' with a 250hp Yamaha. I think it was $60k'ish. Look for a good running used one you can get well cared for boat around 20
