This isn't the first time we've seen the tactic of skimming posts from other sites to post here, bolstering up a fabricated identity, used here.

Any idea as to why they are spamming a bunch of gun forums?

The left is really ramping up the attacks on guns and gun owners.
All their usual methods in the past have not been able go as far as they would like.
Time to try something new and different to smear us?
Get a high post count and then start making threatening posts to try and make gun owners appear crazy and violent?
It is something to watch.

You are correct, and I would be expecting an up-shift in attacks on firearms fora both via shifty links and trolls.

Gotta wonder about Paddler. Every single post is meant to draw fire, and it does.

That's their standard M.O., joken2 -- they copy threads from other forums. Lately they've been copying threads from very new users because it helps them blend in being new users themselves.

Every thread they start is copied. On threads they don't start, they will often post throwaway comments, such as "Loving this thread, sub'd" or "interesting thread, I also have the same question."

Signs point to it being mostly automated, with a person directing the bot and occassionally typing their own answers.

I don't know. but what is the purpose of signing on to a website in order to cut and paste a post from another website, and attach an invisible picture (1x1)?

I have got email messages that said "pictures not downloaded to protect your privacy" . Which indicates opening, or receiving a message with a picture tells the sender "something"? maybe just that it is a valid email?

not sure the purpose, hoping the tech savvy gents can help sort this out.

p/s Sycamore is not my real name, but Jim_Conrad was taken grin

Possibly to steal information from any unprotected systems...remember that all those computer grads have all gone through tertiary education facilities where most of this stuff originates.

The enemy is getting smarter and better educated, on the taxpayers coin.

They would be copying posts and reposting on other forums as they don't speak the lingo and would stand out.

Remember why, specifically, the Bill of Rights was written...remember its purpose. It was written to limit the power of government over the individual.

That's certainly part of it, but I think a lot of it is simply reducing the effort, 'cause they get caught doing it as well. It's also easier to automate in software.

Case in point, this morning they posted a thread about baitcasting reels for fishing in a long-range rifle hunting forum. THAT got noticed, lol.

Paddler actually screwed up earlier last year by posting a picture of a letter with his full name, that he is a MD and the exact location of his practice on it that he was sending to some politician about his views supporting some pro liberal subject. Just a quick simple search revealed his sub par patient reviews.

I've also seen increased attacks on gun related web sights. I've seen several down due to attacks, including the site for Tanner Gun Shows.

Once in while when I go to clear my Campfire cookies I'll notice a larger amount than usual with some having a the letters G A in the code. A little research showed they were Google analytics cookies. I would then have to check my browser preferences and ad-blocking program only to discover that somehow they had been changed so I had to reset them again.

Hey, Rick doesn't "nip" other trolls, so why start now?

The 24HCF is open to all ... and the good guys find other venues. Sadly, very sadly, that is the truth.

All I know is that a lot of clutter is gained in my Malware/virus cleaner from this site, I'm wondering if someone is latching onto our info/data from here.

How do I do that?

Spiders are software robots gathering data.

When google indexes a site like this one they use a spider. Well-behaved ones
identify themselves so the site operators don't confuse them with real users.

Regrettably, Steelhead OWNS the 24HCF.

So, whatever Steelhead decides is the eventual fate of the forum.

Sad, but true.
