No qualms with the rifle other then the stock weighing 49 ounces. I purchased a mcmillan sako classic and the feel was night and day.

Will do, hadn't come across anything regarding the atlasworx bottom metal having magazine issues. Hope I don't because so far this has been the easiest gun I've ever had.

DId you get the atlasworx bottom metal ?

No it hasn't arrived yet. I just happily clicked away then I realized Australia. Just ordered couple weeks ago, not sure how long the ride is.

Should be here shortly. I was a guinea pig for them

How long have you had yours, I assume you got it functioning properly? How do you like it?

I sold it about a year ago or so. A few months a not so local gunshop had a pile of the standard A7's in Stainless. I bought the only 7 mag they had. I love this gun, I will put it in a Mcmillan stock after I get done with my other projects. It weighs in at 6 3/4 lbs. The previous one had a pretty bad bedding job when it came from the factory, I rebedded it and it shot well enough but that stock was just too heavy.

Interesting the different takes on the stock. I had a 20 inch 308 Christensen arms Ridgeline that I carried on an Alaska ram hunt and some elk hunts and while lightweight, it was too light for me. Maybe a 500 yard gun. The a7 rough tech stock and vx5 gives great balance and ballest, also checks that 'one gun' box for me as a good range gun/hunting rifle hybrid of sorts.

Put your A7 in a mcmillan sako classic or Sako 75 hunter and get back to me. I can deal with the design of the factory stock to a degree but that weight....

Got my atlas works parts. Bolt nob was easy and I love it. Bottom metal needs a little material removed to fit, probably 1/16 of an inch, so I can't speak to the magazine function. It appeared to be a match with the oem plastic. The bolt shroud however was installed, but then the bolt wouldn't close because, I believe I was sent the wrong part. That or it's totally incorrect machining as there's about 3/16 inch too much material on the underside that mates up with the receiver. Sent an email, we'll see what happens.

Hopefully you will have more luck then I . If you still have to remove material from the bottom metal then they still have not got it working right. They make a shroud for a T3 and the A7 . If you want a really good shroud buy a Sako 85 bolt shroud either blued or SS.

I spoke with Colin via email and he told me they'd ship a new unit right away - I had requested this in my preceding email regarding the problem, included an image and that I'd send the unit I had back. He said to keep it, not necessary to return. I mentioned SAKO A7 ROUGHTEC PRO as my model several times, confirmed also that I ordered the parts correctly.

The bottom metal not fitting I'd attribute to stock production tolerances at first glance. The piece appeared to be well made and didn't jump out to me as "off" somehow. 10 seconds on the grinder and it'll fit no problem. I hope.

The bolt handle is super awesome though. Now I want one for all my bolt guns.

Does your unit have 2 semi-circular recesses near the trigger guard in the magazine well? If so , then they updated it , the unit I recieved did not. I also asked Colin to send me a replacement , that was 2 years ago.

Off the top of my head, yes it did have the recesses you mentioned. When I compared them side x side it appeared to be a match, save for the length.

So Colin never sent your replacement bottom metal??

I ordered a ss sako 85 shroud this morning from an outfit online. I'll just go with it and send the other back.

Anyone else that you know of that makes bottom metal?

So you do have the most recent bottom metal. Long story Colin said just grind 2 notches on your bottom metal. That did not work so I emailed him and he said next production run he would mail me the right one, that was 2 years ago.

I am sort of looking for a shroud for mine, I am waiting for Brownells or Midwest Gunworks to have one in stock. I might go with a Blued one this time around.

I know of no one that makes bottom metal for the A7 other then atlasworx.

Please STFU if you don't know what you are talking about. This is not an 85 action

I have an A7 stainless in 300WSM. I had ejection issues. I changed to the next size taller Talley Lightweights and the problem went away. From what I could find out the problem only occurs wit short, fat cartridges.

I have only owned 7mag in both of mine and never had an issue, both had extra low talley lightweights One a Swaro 3-10x42 and a 3-9x40 trijicon accupoint. I only ran 3 rounds thru the new A7 so that is not much of a test.

Atlasworx bottom metal fitted after removal of gnats ass worth of stock material, love the bolt handle from them too. Got a ss sako 85 bolt shroud and it's much nicer than the atlasworx, cheaper too, fit like a glove and is correct shade of ss whereas the atlasworx is brighter. Not enough for me to worry about it but if super ocd you might not like it. No function issues with my bottom metal and for my money thus far I'm happy with the improvements for only couple hundred bucks.

If all goes well I'll be shooting again Thursday. 54 rounds down the pipe thus far, great accuracy, good trigger. No malfunctions, no ejection problems. Balances well for me and is a good fit all around. I like the stock too and the overall weight. Checks all my boxes and some not mentioned. It's like I've found my perfect rifle. Should probably sell it lol, I almost don't know what to do with myself...

Guesses as to whether or not the barrel will speed up with more rounds through it or how much? The other day I got to one of our fields where I had steel at 600. Storm was inbound so I only had an hour or so, I'd figured 54 clicks given my chrono readings but only needed 51. Went 4/4 once I figured that out, group was 1moa but I can do better when I'm not in such a hurry to beat spring rain.

Hoping someone other then atlasworx starts making bottom metal for an A7. Funny how the Sako shroud costs less then the ill fitting shroud Aftermarket companies make.
