Still on a 26'r. Built this bike up a couple years ago with all top shelf parts, and can't justify a new bike yet. Will most likely go 29'r with my next bike though!

I split the difference with the bike I got a couple of years ago- pluses with both, so I compromised

Mike, 27.5? My buddy recently bought a 29" and is liking it. I still have my Trek MTB from the 80's. Planning on upgrading this summer but not sure how I'll go. For one thing, my head injury means my days of technical descents (especially) are DONE. Too risky. So a gravel bike might make more sense than a full-on MTB. My materials come in tomorrow to start the new biz I've mentioned.... so today I'm beating the [bleep] out of large rounds of wood with a BFH. I've got a helper though!

Speaking of which, the BFH is back in action, baby! One of my better re-handle jobs.

you mean BFM? yep 27.5, nothing too technical for me either and I don’t have any head injuries (although my wife might argue that point!)

Back in the day I went ass-over-teakettle more times than I can count on my MTB. Simply stated, I can't go there now. My neurologist was very clear about the ramifications of another concussion, given the severity (length, depth, and breadth) of symptoms I had. Supposedly structures in my bean are now much more brittle and prone to easy severe re-injury, and also supposedly the late-life prognosis becomes poor when you start stacking major concussions.
Anyway, the cool thing is, this is like the golden age of bikes and there are some really great alternatives that fall between a road bike and a full-on MTB that should work great on the logging roads around here.

I'm still into full on mountain biking, rocks, roots drop offs, etc. Been riding for over 20 years now, and with the full suspension I ride now, I hit stuff that 20 yr old me wouldn't hit 20 years ago, lol. Went back to Washington to see the in-laws last summer and my bike went along, rode up around Bellingham on those trails, was some incredible riding!

Wendler week 17: squats 5/5/5+/10, bench 5/5/5+/10, pull-ups 3x12, dips 3x35, core
I seem to have a little new found strength, I was able to get some additional reps on my 5+ sets, so will keep forging ahead until I can’t make the reps- I thought I may have been done the last four week cycle, but evidently not

6.6 miles today with a steep 700’ climb. Managed to miss the storms. Onyx found a couple really fresh deer legs. I guess the mountain lion is still hanging around. We got within 60 yards of 5 mule deer and saw lots of elk sign but no sheds to be found today.

Saturday and Sunday consisted of lots of MN CrossFit. 16" of fresh, wet and slushy snow. The city Plowman was kind enough to provide me with a 3' high, 6' wide, 20' long berm of snow to shovel in addition to my driveway which was drifted in. Took 3.5 hours of shoveling to get it all then about 4" of fresh snow fell Sunday night. Always interesting to be in the middle of historical events like that. I believe I could of climbed Mt. Everest and not been as wore out as I was Sunday evening. Great core building!

8.5 miles of cross-country mountain biking on Sunday afternoon, 30 minutes of TRX strength training last night. It feels good to get back into the groove of regularly working out.

Did 2.5 miles at the local park after work, going up and down a bluff on a trail with 35 pounds on my back. Would of loved to hike longer but had to get home for dinner with the family.

Sunday we did swim testing where I set PRs in all distances. And got beat by the wife in all distances. Ouch.
Swapped studded tires for non-studded on the fat bike, so had to ride that around a little bit. I did tubeless on the new tires, and have a couple leaks to work out. I think mostly valve stems. Tubeless is huge on the fat bike. Feels like a different bike.
Was supposed to do a bike trainer session yesterday, but it was clear and sunny so I hit the road for 15 miles in town. I jumped the gun a bit - tons of gravel on the roads and I am paranoid of getting hit by a car. Still, first time on the road with my new used road bike, and it is just stupid fast - even with me powering it.

Yesterday evening Tiny Elvis and I got 4 miles in on, wait for it...... mostly snow free trails!!! We smoked the 4 miles pretty quickly- no snow and no pack, made for what seemed easy
I suspect the trails will be in even better condition this evening

Did cardio today, 35 minutes of intervals on the stationary bike, for the first time without the plastic boot. Progress.

The sun is showing and it looks like its going to be a gorgeous day. Walked the dogs, and ate. A little bit of house hold chores while I digest. Planning to knock out a good workout before I head to work this afternoon. Felt awful nice this morning on the dog walk. Energizing and motivating.
