Anyone have one of these?
How is your accuracy? Does it re-zero when taken down and put back together again?
Thanks

Calm winds so tested my 10/22 TD with the new Brimstone Gunsmithing Tier 3 trigger (2.5#, no over travel, $38, 1 week turnaround). 5 shot group, 50 yds; 4 power scope Federal Champion 1.2" vertical. Wolf Match Target 1.18" vertical. Also shot a Henry AR-7 Survival rifle with Konus 4x32 rimfire scope. 5 shot 50 yd. 0.65". horizontal. Going to fire lap 10/22 barrel. According to J. Marshall Stanton 25 lapping rounds reduced groups in half on 4 10/22 barrels he lapped. In my experience no shift of point of impact between take down and assembly but you have to cycle action as per Ruger instructions. Also adjusted barrel nut for resistance when twisting barrel on receiver. Do not expect groups (0.5") that Jeff Quinn reported on Gunblast. Scope on AR-7 was just to test accuracy. Scope removed so barrel can be stored in stock.

How do you go about fire lapping a barrel? Have heard the term but am not familiar with the process...

Page 40 of "Beartooth Bullets Technical Guide" by J. Marshall Stanton. Available from Beartooth Bullets. Rub lapping compound in the grooves of lead CB Long by rolling between thumb and forefinger. Clean compound off case.

I’ve had two and tried everything to get them to shoot and even added aftermarket barrels. If all you expect is 1.5” or so inside of 50 yards, you might get there. My regular 10/22s would shoot circles around them. If you don’t NEED a takedown, get a regular. I just thought they were cool, too. JMP

I take mine down pretty frequently. Take it traveling in a gym bag just in case there's an opportunity to shoot something.
Every time it goes to the range it shoots as accurately offhand as my non TD 10/22.
Not the qualifier "offhand".
I don't have a scope on it either. Just the factory irons. If it shifts zero - at all - I'm not going to notice it because I only shoot this little feller offhand and I use the iron sights.
Every time it gets taken apart and put back together again it rings a chest-size piece of steel offhand at 100 yards.
I consider that re-zeroed.
For a walking around rifle. Which this is.
All things are always on the move simultaneously. - W.S. Churchill

That’s where it’d shine and what it’s made for. I have pistols that do that. Point was: if you need consistent, repeatable accuracy, shot to shot, with optics, something else is better. A red dot on the barrel might be an option for some, but any minor change in forearm pressure isn’t evident in any receiver mounted optic, and throws fliers as a rule.
