Wasn’t there similar situation like this in The UK last year? I know it was resolved for the best of the child eventually but the hell the government put those parents thru was truly evil.

Yes. As a matter of fact there was. Besides poor little Charlie Gard mentioned above, the Nazis were quite adept in killing sick / handicapped children. (Including children born with Downs Syndrome.) Of course, the Nazis did it for "racial purity" reasons while the U.K. NHS appears to be doing it for cost reasons ..... but in the end it's all the same, " ..... for the best of the child ....."

The evidence was that moving him to Italy would make no difference, and might hasten his end. Nothing to do with costs.

If the parents, via Italy, want to pay for it, then they should be allowed to leave. The "costs" have nothing to do with this since there won't be any costs to the UK at this point.
