I'll give this one a try here for a day or two. I have a Colt MKIV series 80 380 ACP that can go to a new home if someone has an interest. Overall the gun is in nice shape with a few marks here and there. I got the gun used and have not shot it much at all. The little bit I have shot it has been with ball ammo and it functioned flawlessly. Very nice to carry. I'm looking for 675.00 shipped from an FFL to the new owners FFL.

According to Colt, that's a 1990 year of manufacture.....and a free bump.

I'm trying to interpret the size of this thing: how does it compare to a full size 1911?

Substancially smaller than a standard 1911. The government model has just a slightly longer barrel than the mustang. 6 inches from the muzzle to the back of the beaver tail. 4.25 rom top of the slide to bottom of the grip.

They are a joy to carry, small and slim. You don't hardly notice you have it.

The Govt .380 is a really nice size - as flat as a Mustang, but both the barrel and grip frame are slightly longer - which means a longer magazine, extra round of ammo, and more comfortable in the hand. Maybe closer to the size of a Colt Defender but as thin as a Mustang.

I'd love to have one, but its the wrong time for me to be buying another handgun.

Yes to what MikeL2 said. Smaller, lighter than a 1911 and very nice feel. Great for C.C. and for me they just point naturally. I have one and a Mustang and both are quality pistols.
