I am trying a new lube from a Cdn supplier here in Onterrible. I doubt the owner created it. Does anyone know if this lube goes by another name? Who the maker is? White Label? Yellow Dragon - This is a stiffer lubricant than the 50/50 and has been pushed to velocities of 2500fps. It runs smoothly in the bullet sizer with no need for heating. If you want a bit more performance out of your lube but don't want to use a heated base than this lube would work nicely. I have the Lee 309-150-F mold. With GC installed, the bullets weigh 151 grains. Length is .835 inches. I got the mold to try the Lee bullets in a 7.62x39mm SS Contender.

I got that mold at Christmas. I have a few hundred bullets ready for gc and lube. I expect this will work fine, but the lube is new. A long time caster told me that lube is lube. I was curious as to its origin.

Never used that lube, but as to the statement lube is lube, that's like saying accuracy is accuracy. My testing has shown the lube not only has an effect on how well or poorly your bore is protected from leading, it also has a huge effect on accuracy. I've seen the same bullet, same powder charge and same gun have groups quadruple in size from the lube the gun likes to the lube the gun hates. Do some testing to see how the lube works in your gun with your load.

I was not going to say anything to him. That is why I asked if anyone here had heard of it.

There are plenty of shooting and reloading "truths" that my personal testing have shown to be less than absolute. I think we can all be guilty of having a good or bad experience and coming up with a blanket "truth" based on that.
Someone who is happy with keeping there shots on a pie plate at 10 paces with a pistol can make the blanket statement that lube is lube. The guy who is after 1" groups at 25 yds, or 50 yds or 100 yds with a handgun likely will find that such is not always the case. The best lube for a 38 special might not be the best lube for a 454 casull, and so forth and so on.
The more I shoot, the less likely I am to make absolute statements.

That's fine. I still won't argue with him though. He's happy and shoots respectable groups. You cannot ask for anything more.

I haven't shot any yet. These a are .309s. I will whip up some .310s as well. The seller may have mixed this formula up. I guess the best thing to do is ask.

I asked the vendor about this lube. He didn't say who made it. This is what he sent me.
Hello Steve and thank you for your inquiry.
The yellow dragon lube is a stiffer version of the 50/50 NRA formula. There is more beeswax to alox ratio, vs the 50/50 ratio alox and beeswax in the NRA formula.

Should work well enough. I prefer lithi bee i.e. moly lithium axle grease and beeswax to alox/beeswax but both are pretty good lubes.
