Depends of if it's a cut in supply or an increase in demand that's doing it.

Oil prices cratered today on word that Russia and the Saudi’s agreed to increase production. Gas prices will come down in the next few weeks.
Unless you work in the patch, high gas prices bad.
Like the “broken window” theory in Econ....

I own enough oil stocks to pay for my gas just in dividends so both is fine with me. Every time I put money in the tank I put money in my retirement fund I've learned to wear both hats.

Currently ranging from $2.69 to $2.79 a gallon for regular at most gas stations around here locally which is about .40¢ - .50¢ a gallon higher than it was on Memorial Day weekend a year ago. Diesel is currently running about .30¢ - .35¢ more a gallon than regular gasoline.

Certainly is no benefit in my world, when I can fill the tank on my Pilot for $70 instead of $40.00....
Higher gas prices are as good for me, as the democRATS telling me the more I pay in taxes, the better it is for the nation, my family and my neighbors.... when it is really only benefits for their politicians, the welfare rats and those that have no intention of ever contributing to the economy, except by purchasing drugs and abusing their use....

Generally it's bad because it causes a rise in transportation prices for goods causing inflation. It's a sign of a booming economy though so you could say that's good. If oil prices get too high it'll tank the economy like back in 2007 which was as much due to oil prices as it was the housing crisis. Those making a living off of oil will be along to tell you how it's the best thing since slice bread and it is for them, it just screws the rest of us.
Everything in moderation.

If oil prices get too high it'll tank the economy like back in 2007 which was as much due to oil prices as it was the housing crisis. The two worked together as a lot of people were barely making their house payments, and banking on inflation making their house worth more and flipping it. When they had to choose between gas to go to work, food to eat and a house payment, the house lost. Then too, the main stream media was hammering on how bad it was under "W", and scared a lot of people into not buying things. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

Another thing I always hear is they're having to switch over to the summer blend. Seems like there would be more additives in the "winter blend" so it would seem that switching to the summer blend would be merely closing a friggin' valve! I think we're being jammed.

I work on a tight profit margin to begin with. Higher fuel prices are not good for me, never was.

High energy prices are never good for the economy.
These self centered pricks who revel in high prices can go f' themselves.
Natural disasters that destroy electrical infrastructure benefit my company. When one happens, most at work are uncomfortable in the knowledge that we benefit at others expense.
