...actually my second. Takes 2 bottles of brew to make one so one must therefore have 2 serves. Maybe I just coined a new term; that being Imperial Black & Tan. For the black used Old Rasputin Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing. Smooth, fairly heavy but without undue sweetness. For the tan it was Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA from New Belgium. Nice, tart, citrussy base but not overwhelmingly so. May sound a bit like having chocolate covered grapefruit but nothing of the sort. Very nice, very complimentry one to the other. Goes quite well with my snack of bagel chips, munster cheese and sriracha. Anyone else trying combos of todays craft brews??

I'd rather be shot at than subject my body to the ravages of any IPA.

So anyway that was the end of the Rasputin and Voodoo so I finished out the night with a PBR; poured from a can into a chilled mug. NIce.

I was taught to make a B&T with Guinness and Bass Ale so that's what I stick with.

I will compliment you on your tastes in yard mowing beer though.
I drink at least one PBR every day...it keeps me grounded.

Guinness & Harp is the real Black & Tan, those not knowing better started the Guinness & Bass thing & it stuck. It’s all heretical yuppie crap anyways, no one should be mixing anything into Guinness.

It's like any other recipe, though...when you can't get the correct ingredients, you substitute the next best things. Or the closest you have on hand.

Any way you make one, B&T is a great drink.

Black & Tan, half and half are the same exact thing.

Stout on top, ale on bottom. It’s a density thing.

Actually the specific gravities are very close to the same. It is actually a viscosity thing...
