I've tried the Federal red box (#790) from Wallyworld, it's a 525 ct. box, similar (if not the same) to that being sold by Palmetto. While my four boltguns would shoot them into 1.5"!!!! at 50 yards, my two autoloaders, a 10/22 and a Marlin 60, had to struggle to get them into a 4"!!!!!! group at the same distance. On other words, I had no luck whatsoever with them. I did notice they had absolutely NO lube on the bullets, though the bullets were tight in the cases (unlike Remington anythings).
I've had the poppoppopboom thing going on with the Federal Automatch ammo, in ALL my rifles, and it shoots like crap in all my rimfires, including the pistols.

I've actually gotten better accuracy from Remington crapammo lately, than this current batch of Federal ammo, which is odd, you'd think there would be some cross-pollination with CCI, since they're both owned by the same conglomerate. No such luck, apparently.

It's the worst ammo I've ever shot in ALL SIX of those rimfires. I won't be buying any more unless I can check them to see if there's some lube on the bullets. Gawd awful stuff, at least this current batch is.

Looks like I'm sticking with CCI and Aguila, whose stuff is stellar in my guns. At least with those brands, I can do better than .75" virtually always, and usually a good bit better.

I've used the blue box bulk Federal 36 grain HP for years with no problems.

I've shot the early Automatch and it seemed a little better than the cheapest bulk ammo. That was however before the shortage.which I suspect may have lowered QC.
