What, and look like you and Larry Bird with your short shorts?

Got to give you credit, you never fail to use the diversion line.

Now pull your shorts up. Management isn’t big on gym cracking.

Stairmaster warm-up--15min

In a hurry so all were on the light side for weight.

Good mornings--4x10
Leg extensions--3x16
Leg curls--3x16
Dumbell curls--4x10
Kettle bell swings--3x23
Kettle bell presses--2x10
Calf raises--2x40

The other day I pulled some muscle that goes from the underside of the wrist to the fat part of your thumb. I would advise others not to do the same.

I have an ongoing issue with that same area of thumb/wrist on my left hand. I concur.

I'm deep in the throes of that new work I mentioned. The shop is booked as far as the eye can see. 3 months? Fawk. Actively addressing any/all areas of potential repetive-type injuries I can. Bought a Bosch impact driver yesterday to take some torque off my arms when putting the castings in/out of the fixtures. Much easier on the arms than my 18v cordless drill, which makes crazy torque. I've had really bad luck healing tendinitis type injuries in the past and do not want to go there.

Thank you Sir!
All packed up, about 25 lbs- that’s everything including water, food, snowshoes, bear spray, satellite communicator, etc
head to the trailhead this evening and we start promptly at 8:00 AM and we’ll see if the backcountry gods are smiling on me

It will let you know when you lift something in a way it doesn't like.

30 minutes on the stair machine, followed by 10 on the bike. I think it's true what they say about endorphins, going into the gym the ankle was hurting but when I was done I had zero pain.

Harry, why won't they let you inside the burgh?

There's a weird nerve cluster or other type of pressure point in there. I know because I can reach over with my "throwing" finger and press the meaty area of the afflicted thumb just so, and it H U R T S. Can't really reproduce it any other way, nor on my other hand.

Curl a dumbell, do roll outs with the handle supported by the fingers, kettle bell overhead press. Anything that stretches the fingers makes it happen.

Now come on, you are so much better when you are on your game.

On the endorphins, I have to agree. I leave the gym and the hips and knees feel good. Keep moving and not bad. Completely stop and it's "hello".

Down in New Mexico to visit the parents so we hiked to the top of tome hill. It's a half mile with 350 feet of elevation gain. Loose shale and volcanic rock. My oldest and I did it in 14 minutes with a 40 pound pack on. It's pretty neat hill with lots of ancient petroglyphs on it. We're going back this morning to find more of them and see if we can find where an American Soldier carved 1846 into a rock back in 1846.

Lower body today. Seeing what I can do with one ankle locked in. Tried swimming laps but with the unequal propulsion I kept hitting th side of the pool.

Found myself a few times trying to imagine what a fused ankle would be like to walk on while hiking the Lost Coast, which had very ankle-intensive sections.

Is there any concern for knee/hip/back issues developing from the, as you say, unequal situation? Heck, just the bout of PF I had set of some discomfort in my hip (from limping) that's just now finally almost gone.

Yep. Especially the hip. Before surgery I was favoring the leg and started to have some pain, and it's coming back as I increase loading on the leg with stuff like squat machines and leg presses.

I have an RX for PT from my surgeon, might have to use it.

I did my annual assessment of where I’m at physically a few weeks back. The annual pack test for Wildland Red Card recert. I didn’t have much trouble finishing it with 5 min to spare. Gotta admit the elevation here had me worried but I must be adjusted since I had no issues with breathing too hard.

Got my gardens, medicinal* and otherwise, prepped today. This involved much rototilling and emptying and spreading two large bins of compost I've been working on since last year. BOOM! Organic matter and nutrients. Just add sun and Alaskan fish emulsion. Let it grow.

Dang tired from head to foot so I'll log it as a workout.

*topped 8' last year. Going for 9'! grin
