She should not have apologized and in doing so she admitted she was referring to race.
A reference to the "Planet of the Apes" could have been explained by reminding the public that the Gorillas in this film were the characters who wanted to kill the apes and the humans.The gorillas are analogous to the Demonrats in the sense that they want to vanquish their perceived enemies.She had to use "Planet of the Apes" since it wasn't titled "The Planet of the Gorillas".If she has done this she could have diffused the claim her statement was about race.
