I'm looking to build one last rifle.

I have a GAP in 308, Tanner's EddyBo-built 243 AI with improvements, and a Tikka T3 in 308, and a LR Remington 700 26" varmint barreled 243 in a Red Hawk Rifles Terrain stock.

This other rifle will be purpose built for long range shooting and hunting.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to the 6.5 PRC vs. the 7mm WSM?

I'll probably build on a Howa 1500 SA with magnum bolt face, just because I have one around.

Or, just sell the Tikka and Remington and buy a Fieldcraft in 7-08.

Thoughts?

That's what I'm thinking.

On a medium length action or longer, I'd go 7WSM. On a short action I'd have a barrel throated for an OAL of 2.92" with the 147 ELD in the 6.5 PRC.

Given your options, sell both and buy a FC in 7-08 or 6.5 Creed.

I had a Win 3" and a Ruger short action to build a PRC.

Ended coming across a good deal on an Ed Brown 7mm wsm,

I have no doubts of the capabilities of the 6.5 PRC as I have since day one been a 26 caliber slut.

But for elk hunting, and really everything else, the 7mm wins for me. And, Ed Brown made a pretty nice rifle.
