Doesn’t get much better. Agreed. They run a little beefy size wise but they shoot. My next hunting rifle build will be a 2b

I use one. Very accurate, and I would recommend them. I use an 8 twist in 6 mm (243).

I’ve got a handful of them and never had a bad one. Next to Obermeyer they are my preferred barrel. And since Obermeyer barrels are essentially no more it will likely be all Bartleins from now on.

Bartlein is as good as any of the top manufacturers. The problem with all of them is finding the contour that you want without having to order it. Ordering equals long delay.
Any of these in the list below are great barrels. Find the contour you want and start the build.
Bartlein Brux Hawk Hill Krieger Mullerworks Rock Creek

For a good while now there have been a lot of them at/near the top of winning equipment lists for many shooting matches.

My latest BR barrel is a Lederer. 5 shot group a couple weeks ago at the Seymour,Texas. It was during the Texas State HV match. Yeah,I know it ain't in the 10 ring. James Lederer was with Rock Creek for several years and made the best 30 cal. barrel that I've ever had when he was there. I think I have used them all on hunting rifles. None have failed me. Shilen Douglas Old Broughton-Harold Broughton built Kreiger Lilja Bartlein Obermeyer Turbo Probably more that has escaped my mind.

GA Precision uses them a lot, and I have one on my GA Precision 308.
VERY accurate and well worth the money.

I would be ecstatic with a group like that. As far as contour, smith recommended a 3b if it will fit in my stock. If not, a 3. Currently has a 2b equivalent, which he thinks is leading to the two good shots and one flyer. I am taking his experience and judgment and running with it. Hoping to get under a half inch when its said and done.

I've got 2 builds with Bartlein 2b contour barrels. Only shot one so far and its been crazy accurate even with factory ammo. I expect the other to be just as good a shooter. The 2b is a great option if going for a lighter weight hunting rig IMHO.

I'd stick with the 2b in a hunting rifle. Maybe flute a 3. I wouldn't use a 3b on anything I was planning to carry much.

I do have a Bartlein that I'm anxious to shoot. Frank Green made an 8 groove, LH twist, and gain twist rimfire barrel for my 40X custom. Hopefully the metal work will be back from Turnbulls soon.
