I don't think Rem makes the Accelerator any more but there are clones available. They call them 'accelerator type'.

After shooting a few of the old school Accelerators, I put the rest of the box on the shelf.

I like actually having a chance of hitting what I aim at... wink

In Idaho, any big game animal can be taken with any centerfire. All of those are legal for bear and moose. I didn't say it's smart, just legal. Idaho is holding a drawing for 1 grizzly tag. Would you like to hunt it with your legal 22 Hornet?

I am a bit confused here. This is completely out of left field.

The OP said nothing about hunting with any of these cartridges, grizzly bears or Idaho; let alone the legalities of these three factors.

Was the OP's post edited to remove something that would make this clearer to me?

Yea they were good for 2MOA on a good day which is enough for a woodchuck or a coyote not so much for a squirrel.

These calibers have only 2 potential uses, target shooting...and, surprise surprise, hunting. We're discussing the calibers that currently exist and they have to have some use. Hunting is one of them, is it not? If you have one, bring it to Idaho to try out on big game.

I have shot big game in Idaho with a .22 centerfire. I still am not seeing how a discussion concerning how many .22 centerfire cartridges are out there instantly turned into a discussion concerning Idaho's only grizzly tag being hunted with a .22 Hornet.

That's not a flame....just an observation of the randomness of your post.

Carry on.

There are more. One which comes to mind is the .222 Rimmed which was popular here in Oz at one time, for Martini Cadet actions, and was available in factory loads. I used to have one, until I rebarreled it for 5.6x50R. Speaking of Martinis there's also the .297/.230, in both short and long versions.

Another largely Australian creation are the .303/22s - I know .303/.22 was mentioned earlier but there were at least 3 versions, from full length (.303/.22 Falcon) to short (.303/.22 Sprinter) to shorter still (.303/.22 Wasp), available in factory loads. There was also the .22 Taranah Hornet, which never really took off, but was a shortened .22 K-Hornet to allow the use of long bullets in a standard Hornet magazine, brought out by one of the contributors to our Guns & Game magazine.

A few others:

5.6 mm Vierling (though it is more or less a .22 WCF).

5.5 mm Velo Dog

.22/15 Stevens

.22 Maynard

2R Lovell.

I also don't think I've seen the .22 PPC above, .220 Weatherby Rocket, or .223 WSSM. Apologies if I've missed them.
