I missed the elk conversation! Dang it. My group is headed to Wyoming with either sex tags for archery. Tom, be careful, elk hunting is a worse addiction than deer hunting. and getting a fix every year is hardly enough.

MMMMmmmmm. Blueberries.

Oh yeah-guilty as charged. With home made ice cream too. Or with my dad's world famous flapjacks.

We used to do the same thing with blackberries when I was a kid. We had a lot of them in the woods near our house. Wild raspberries while up in Yooperland, Mich. too. Lots of small town festivals up there with raspberries as the theme.

That's actually a pretty good year Joe. 13 deer in one season is quite a bit for northern MN.
Tom knows from whence he speaks Joe. You had a darned good season. Will you hunt the same stands/spots this year?

Well I'm gonna have to, the blueberrys are great!

I was just reviewing the rules for turning in a application for the Camp Ripley archery hunt. Think I'm gonna apply. I talked to a couple guys on line who said you pretty much get drawn every year now. It used to be there were more applicants than tags, and it was about an every-other-year proposition. That's a fun hunt, although kind of tough with no scouting.

Jeff, I hope you have a better time at Ripley hunting, than I did at the Army Reserve summer camps!

Gotta say it guys-I'm really getting the itch to go deer hunting. Can't wait for archery to open up. Was looking at the crossbow last night. Time to start practicing. Too hot yet for a trip to the rifle range, but some trigger time on the AR would be nice right about now. Anyone else getting anxious to hit the woods?

Getting there. Just got back from a scouting trip to Wyoming. Was thinking that the 25-06 was going to be the ticket but there's a lot of thick timber. Definitely running triple shocks if I take it. Considering a lever in 30-30 or 44 magnum.

There are leftover tags in some areas but they don't last long. Pronghorn would probably be your best bet.

I'll probably take my 13 year old wingman. We don't go on too many hunting trips without each other these days.

Antelope hunting is a good time and an easy hunt. Be a great hunt for a kid. I've asked my oldest daughter and I can't get her to go. She likes to deer hunt here in MN, just can't get her to make the leap to out west.
