Butina was a life time NRA member, and she was paying for NRA trips to Moscow in 2015.
She was here on a student visa and was acting as a Russian agent along with Alexander Torshin.
She was using the NRA to further her agenda to infiltrate the US approved by Torshin
Torshin is head of Russian Central Bank and reports to Putin. He is also has a warrant against him
in Spain. He has left the US. He was also a life member of NRA. Butina was also trying to establish
a back channel to Russian Central Bank/ Torshin. Her arrest warrant stated she was acting as a Russian agent
conspiring against the United States.

The account I read (Wall Street Journal) indicated the NRA didn't pay any attention to her. As for being a "Life Member," anyone can be one if they put up the required fee. The NRA does not vet members.
