This was the 3rd pup. It took me until September to get him. I got the mom and the other two a week earlier. This one was with the 10/22M

And when they do grow up the hides are worth something. In the mean time I'd enjoy the pups though if that got out I'd likely lose some hunting permissions.
Coyote will come up into the field maybe 200 yards behind the house. I get to hear the pups but never see them. We still have bunnies, cats, turkeys in the yard and I can hear pheasants after they've had a good year and geese still inhabit the wet spots. We're marginal for pheasant production in this county.

I kill coyotes anytime, any age, any chance, never miss an opportunity. If I'm outside I've generally got a rifle with me. I raise goats so it's a big deal to me.

They aren't so cute when they're ripping the guts out of a fawn and letting it die slowly.

Assuming it is legal to shoot them in the summer in Kansas, I'd shoot them. If not, don't take a chance at having your name in the paper as a coyote poacher. Yep, it's legal - 365 days a year.

I told my wife last week someone must have killed off the local coyote population here - we are overrun with rabbits, like 3 for every square block. Normally this time of year they are eradicated by predators.
I think the Coyotes wiped out the feral cats, and then the game department wiped out the coyotes so the rabbits are thriving this year.

Not really even a decision to be made here in my opinion. If you have the opportunity to be the bigger predator then do so. YMMV
If you find yourself in a hole....quit digging

To All,
One wonders WHY the coyotes don't thin out the deer in our metropolitan San Antonio neighborhoods/parks. = Bexar County Animal Control states that, "- - - - - some parts of Bexar County have over 300 whitetail deer per square mile." Also, the WT are literally "- - - - - stripping our city & county parks & green spaces of anything edible, as high as they can rear up & reach." (Can I borrow a few dozen coyotes??)
Note: Several TMN here in SA/Bexar, have repeatedly requested that we be allowed to bring in archers to clear-out the WT to a manageable number but PETA & The Fund for Animals so strongly objected that the city/county councils refused our requests.
yours, tex AAC, TMN

That's an ugly scene, thought they could only take down fawns and the weak/old....buck looks big and healthy.
