I've finally used up my container of Schnees leather conditioner and need to get some more. Before I order, I wanted to see what you guys are using. Maybe there is something better out there. What do you guys use?

Scott, I posted a similar question several months ago. Although I received a number of different suggestions, Obenauf's leather conditioner seemed to be the top choice. I have applied it to my old Danner's but haven't really put them to the test as far as water-proofness goes. You can purchase Obenauf's through Cabela's.
Good luck with your quest.

This comes up twice yearly. I go with Obenaufs. A guy from Alaska will tell you it's crap only TRUE BEESWAX works. O's has never let me down though.

I knew it came up previously but apparently I wasn't using the right words in my search or something. Thanks.

The wax/waterproofing formulation from kenetrek is (claimed) to be made not to affect the stitching or rubber toe guards (if you have a rubber guard) where it adheres to the leather. That's what I've been using since I have a couple of their boots plus a pair of similarly constructed meindls. So far so good.

I use wax based granger's or the kennetrek stuff on smooth leather. Have used grangers on nubuck too Trying Hyrobloc on some newer zamberlans. YBT,( years before gortex) i used to use boot oil and snowseal on everything but was told the silicone was hard on some rubber and types of thread.
They all work well enough to make me wonder what was the point of gortex. If a new pair of high priced boots I usually try to use what mfg recommendz at least to start.

I have used both Sno Seal and Mink Oil for many years, it kept my boots in good condition.Currently I have a container of Peccard's Leather Dressing that I have been using. For holsters, belts and slings I use Fiebing's Saddle Oil because it does not stain clothing like Neatsfoot Oil can.

Is there any reason not to use Schnees leather conditioner?

I used Sno Seal exclusively for many years (years ago) ago, but now use Obenauf's.

Trying Hyrobloc on some newer zamberlans. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts after using it - I bought some Hydrobloc with a new pair of Zamberlans but haven't used it yet as I'm considering using Obenauf's on them as well.

Mine usually get conditioned by dust, mud, llama poop, maybe a bit of blood, and this time of year a good dose of sweat. Leather loves the salt.

I use beeswax, no experience with O’s. But not trying to make leather waterproof, just optimizing. You can’t make leather waterproof. But it performs a lot better w beeswax. And is more abrasion resistant. Not a miracle, but an improvement on all fronts.
