Don’t have nozzle too close, don’t move too slow. Basically, what was said ^^ multiple light coats.

put a primer underneath as first coat or two...

no one mentioned that...

I use Automotive primer.....grey for light paint, and dark grey or black for dark paints.

Paint running and paint sticking are two different, but important factors.

Plastic tends to have an oily surface coating coming out of the mold. It would be helpful to wash it down with degreaser and/or lacquer thinner, then lightly sand the smooth surface before painting...

This is basic painting 101 whether a stock or car or house...

Krylon of your choice. You can always strip it and repaint another color or style.

Just did one with Rustoleum Textured. I like the way it looks and am debating on whether to clear coat it or not? With the granite finishes I did but this looks good as is with the finer multi texture. So what say you guys with more experience? CC for some added durability of leave it paint only for ease of touch ups?

With the textured paints you can hold it about two feet away. These are more texture than paint so prime or under coat with the color of your choice and consider the granite type paints as a texture only proposition. Warm dust free area is best for application. If cold I will soak the can in hot not boiling water and make an impromptu spraying cabinet with heat light. Shake it and shake it again then shake some more.

The pink you need to shake even more.

Ive done a number with the Rustolium textured. Never coated it. It has chipped around some edges or got some good scratches, but simple touch up. It's a good inexpensive and easy paint to use, and the grip it gives is nice.

I CC. If touch up is ever needed, I just touch it up and touch up the touch up with CC.

My rattle-can Remington 700 Custom KS in 300 H&H

It started life as a Rem. 700 Custom KS in 375 H&H and was re-barreled to 300 H&H and accurized by HCR.

I gave it a Krylon Webbing spray, rattle can paint job. Took the barreled action out of the stock Sanded the stock just a bit with fine wet or dry sandpaper. Then sprayed several light coat of the tan camo spray. Let that dry. Then used two different colors of Krylon "webbing spray" I got online. Go easy with the webbing spray. Took steel wool and smoothed out the bangles on the webbing spray, then finished with several light coats of acrylic.

Krylon Fusion is surprisingly good. Degrease the hell out of the thing first, I prefer denatured alcohol as the last wipe down. YMMV

Do you guys who paint your own stocks cover up the inletting/barrel channel when you're painting?

Degrease, degrease, decrease! Dull it with a little steel wool helps adhesion too. I did the colors first, then a light coat of texture and a light coat of matte clear. Damn I wish I could get this one back.....
