what do they make the slides out of these days? Zinc alloy? What holds me back from buying the smaller guns from the major manufacturers is my perception that the materials they use are designed for a limited lifetime. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I guess I would rather spend another $200 dollars to get something that would still be working long after I am not able to use it. People used to sneer if you had an RG revolver made out of pot metal, and now its come into fashion.

Not me brother.....I have bought a couple of shellacked cow turds in my life when younger and with much less wisdom.

The gun has a cast polymer grip frame with a slide and frame receiver inserts made from metal injection molding cast zinc alloy. The barrel consists of a rifled steel insert containing within a steel barrel sleeve.

If I was in the market for a .22 auto pistol I'd watch gunbroker until a nice High Standard Sport King showed up.

There's some nice ones on there right now, as a matter of fact.

Yeah, truly worthy. My favorite Mk II is the 10" version but the Gov't Target comes a very close second especially with a little trigger work.

One of my Bucket List guns. Oh how I kick myself for walking past them when they were common.

Probably easier to ask for recommendations for an unreliable, inaccurate 22lr pistol.

Bought a 10” Mark II 30 years ago and loved it. Shot like a rifle......Then one day sold it in a fit of stupidity.

Happened across another rare model that I had long wanted a few years ago in a 678 Target Tapered and it shoots great too. And in a handier package.

Still I’m intrigued by the lightweights.

"looking for a good 22 auto pistol"

Almost any of them except a Sig Mosquito.

Mine is a Mk II 5 1/2" Target - feeds & fires anything and is far more accurate than I can hold.

I have several brands and models of semi auto 22s.

But the 22 handguns that give my old shaky hands and dim eyes are the S&W K22 revolver with scope and the Colt Officers model revolver with homemade scope mount.

I have a Colt Woodsman Target that I made a clamp on scope mount for. When we shoot it, my groups are twice as large as my brother's. I think that trigger pull consistency is easier with a heavy fat revolver from the bags.

maybe you shoulda made a clamp on pistol vice to go along with the clamp on scope mount. Thatta way you could maybe shoot as good as the heavy fat revolver from bags. Maybe even some clamp on bags would help. With enuff 'clamps', anything is possible.......

I believe it is an interesting gun. Same size and weight as the 1911 - .45 ACP.
Take down is slightly different.
I would prefer it without the extended grip safety but that is just me.
Here is my ATI back when it was ne.
Not quite so pretty today but it still shoots well.
