There used to be a gentleman in Bozeman MT. who sold cartridge adapters under the name ALEX Inc. For instance, I have a couple of 22-250 that shoot 22LR, 25-06 that shoots 25ACP, and 308 that shoots 32ACP.

Any idea if he is still around? I can't find any presence on the web.

I have asked this same question and nobody seems to know. Even Shrapnel, who lives in Bozeman, and is reputed to have his finger on the pulse of all things related to Montana, hadn't heard of Alex, Inc.

Ace Dube in Anchorage, AK, sells some adapters. The new website address is www.mcasportsace.com and their telephone number is 907-248-4913.

I believe that Alex Inc has been out of business for quite a few years.

I have had a couple of them from Alex Inc and they worked well. I have one adaptor from Ace and it has always worked fine.

Thanks, but ACE doesn't have anything I want. I was hoping to get an adapter to fire something like the 32ACP in my 300WSM.

Why? I don't know. I have a reduced load that fires a Sierra 125grHP 30-30 bullet at the speed of a fast 22mag.

Mcace makes custom inserts, just send them an unsized case that has been fired in the rifle that you want the insert for, so it might be worth a call to see if they would make a customer adapter for your 300 WSM. You'll never know if you don't ask.

I thought that the soft lead "Alex Caps" design for low power adapters was great, but they were probably a good idea that came at the wrong time.

Thanks for the information.

I bought several of his auxiliary chambers that used a .22 LR cartridge to launch a soft lead "Alex Cap" down range sometime in the 1990's. He had a PO Box in Bozeman for his "Alex Inc." business.

Glad the info helped. He may have been in business for years. He dissolved his Alex Inc corporation in 81. He probably continued selling and maybe making after that. I am not sure where the Alex name came from. I never knew him. I did find one of his daughters' is named "Alex" so maybe that was it.

Too many gun and hunting related items are no longer around. Sometimes with the ability to have hindsight I can see so many things I would have done different in the 60's, 70's and 80's. A workable adaptor system is one such example.

Hammond Gamegetters are still around, I believe. They make the adapter from your fired case.

Mr Hammond is getting oooold. He still gets around. One December we found him stuck on a road approach in -25 weather on the Wainwright MIlitary base. There is always limited entry hunts for deer, moose and elk on the base in December. But it can be cooold! Mr. Hammond was by himself driving a large old car. He refused our help, he had the base tow truck coming.

He doesn't have a 6.5 Creedmoor. I would have to send him a case or two and my dies to get one made.
