What a cool ol bear... Grats
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

A Compliment here. He reminds me of an OLD Black Lab. Lived Long, Enjoyed Life, Had Fun, Stood His Ground. GREAT bear.

Gummy bear came to mind. I kind of hate to go out again this year as I'll be in second place no matter what.

Nice bear, good to see. I've never taken one over 5 years old, but let's get real. In my area bear hunting is more about protecting bird feeders than anything else.

I kind of hate to go out again this year as I'll be in second place no matter what. Well, I'm going out first rifle, I have an opening for a packer if you're interested......

Oh I've got another tag or two, but meant bears in above comment. Been battling a sore foot/ankle this year so don't think I'd be worth my feed for packing. Hopefully be ready for following my dog around during upland season. Good luck in 1st rifle.

Oh I've got another tag or two, but meant bears in above comment. Me too, plus a bull tag. Best case, make a gut pile the first day or two and come back every morning after that.

You did that old bruin a favor. He would have died a lingering death before long. A terrific trophy. A friend of mine shot a giant bear about five miles from where I live here in New Jersey. I'm about 20 miles from Ground Zero. He got the bear with a bow, and it weighed 679.5 lbs on a digital scale, dressed. I'll have to ask him how old it was. That was 2016.

Rufous, great bear, thanks for the link. Be curious to hear on this one.
Jerseyboy, 679 would be one giant black bear. Hope he remembers the age.

I just got the age back on my bear from last year....8 yrs old. It showed some wear, but not near as much as this one.

I was quite surprised to learn the sow I shot last year aged at 30 years old. Haven't had a chance to talk to the bear biologist in Fort Collins yet, but I didn't know they lived that long in the wild......
