In 17 HH. It's coming from MGM. In Canuckian dinars, the price is $750. That's $560 USD. That' s delivered with taxes. It better shoot!

Anyone else have a Contender or an Encore in 17 Hornet?

Have MGM contender carbines in both 17Hornet & 17Ackley Hornet...not really sure why both, other than if one is good, more is better.

Have shot the 17Ackley quite a bit more; it is pretty fond of 1680 under the cheap dogtown 20gr bullets that midway sells. Both barrels are fine shooters, and fun to be able to see crow feathers fly when smacked. Mine are tapered contours, both wearing 3x9 Leupold EFR-AO's.

Lots of fun from a pound of powder with the hornets!

I had a MGM 17/AH 12” contender barrel.
It was as accurate as you can get out of a contender.

The wait begins. Three months to get it here. Hopefully, it will arrive in time for Christmas.

I ordered the barrel last. I have bullets, brass and the dies. I am waiting on a body die however. I will order a Lee Collet die as well, but I have to send in two fired cases.

I've got one in 17 Hornet for my Contender G2. My barrel is a 20" stainless from MGM. Set it up with a folding stock for easy packing. Shoots super accurate and is too much fun for chucks and ground squirrels! smile

That's great to hear. I want to have it up and running for the winter. By spring, I want to help a few of the neighbours at calving time. We have coyote problems, and I want something quieter than my 222 when working the fields closer the barns. I bought 500 25 gr. HPs for the job, but I expect they will work just fine on foxes as well.

You rig looks handy and easy to carry.

The hornet will definitely be quieter than the 222. The HPs should work well for coyotes and foxes within reasonable range. I'll usually take a 223 or 204 when I'm after coyotes and noise isn't a concern, but I have taken three coyotes with a 17h using the 20gr vmax. One of them was at 200 yards facing straight at me. That one made it about 40 yards and before expiring. Other two were broadside at 150 yards and they both dropped in their tracks.
