You and me both. It is my most used chambering. In the hunting I do, I don't feel undergunned.

svg250,

My circa 1954 Model 760 in .300SAV is the rifle that I reach for, unless the quarry is bigger/tougher to take down than a boar-hog of well over 250 pounds.

180 grains of JSP at 2300FPS is NO "pussycat" on the receiving end.

yours, tex

I have four rifles in 300 Savage - a 1952 Remington 760 Gamemaster in 300 Savage, two Remington Model 81s in 300 Savage and a Savage 99 in 300 Savage.

I don't like potato chips.

The .300 Savage is the perfect W/T cartridge to my way of thinking. In fact, I load all my .30'06 deer loads to the .300's ballistics as non of my shots can exceed 100 yards. Funny how this came up because I just came back into the house after wandering about my property with my 1948 EG. Never d/t for a scope but, has a Redfield 70 and a Sheard front, which is a perfect combo for my eyes. Surprising how light and lively a rifle feels without a scope on top. Practicing for deer season I guess. grin
