I get the purpose of the cartridge and design. But I can’t help but think if it instead as a great short range deer thumper for close quarters in a light handy rifle

Given that small cases firing 338 calibre bullets tend to use short dumpy bullets, why not just go with a 338 Federal?

Larry Kelly had a whole line of Whisper cartridges.
I believe they went to 45 caliber.
