Tired of dragging that electric cord around so I'm down to the Stihl BG50 or the Echo PB-2520 for a gas operated leaf blower. Other than $20 more for the Echo with a 5 year warranty vs Stihl's only 2 years, the offset anti-torque attachment sounds good for reducing wrist fatigue (if it actually works) but I was wondering what the Fire members on here like? Thanks.

How does service, and parts compare between the two?

Don't know the model but have an Ecco that has been in use reliably for about 3 years. Starts on the second pull, 100% of the time.

I have an Echo that I am very happy with. It has a 5 year warranty and has been flawless through 3 years. Starts easy on second pull and is light enough for the wife to use.

I have a 5=6 year old Poulan, cost $50 @ Lowes but unfortunately it only starts after 4-5 pulls. frown
Guess I'll trash it.
Before that I had a $29 Weedeater brand, took 3-4 pulls but it only lasted 15 years. cry

I have two Echos that have run flawlessly for years barring a carb adjustment here and there. But that being said, if you want to clear an area fast, get one of these. Toads, pinecones, mushrooms, not to mention sticks, leaves and needles take right off with one of these.

I have a Stihl BG50 and it's a bitch to start. Once it's running there are no issues.

I have an Echo... as long as the right fuel to run a Ferrari on... it never hiccups and starts with two pulls also.
haven't need to have it serviced yet... I've had it 4 or 5 years now....

Friend has an Echo weed eater.. he figures over the last 15 plus years he has to have at least 4,000 engine hours on it... kind of why I bought the Echo when I did need a new blower...

Stihls are a quality piece of equipment, but I feel Echo is just as a good if not better...

sure beats anything that says Sears of Poulan on the side of it...

I have an older BG series blower and it runs like a champ. Its a bit underpowered but does what I need it to do.

I just bought a Ryobi 185mph backpack blower at an auction for $60. I'm not a big fan of Ryobi but I didn't think I'd win it for $60 so now I have that. I am picking it up today. I bet that 15 year old Stihl lasts longer than the new Ryobi

I’d recommend a backpack type instead of a handheld. I have a Stihl backpack model that I bought in 1997. It is still going strong and has been trouble free.

I have some commercial equipment. Both a leaf blower and a line trimmer. Dennisinaz has them also. They have quality German made carbs on them.

I don't own anything but Stihl products, so I'm a bit biased. Get a Stihl backpack blower and you won't have to worry about wrist fatigue.
