EDIT: car in the pic has gone through a lot of changes since then, will try to post some new pics next time i'm at the garage
I had a 78 Camaro. I put a 406 in it. It had Dart II heads, a small Crane solid cam, 10:1 comp. A TH350 tranny with a 3800 stall converter, 4:10 gears. I went 12.70's at 106 MPH on street tires through a full length 2 1/2" exhaust. I was losing it out of the hole big time. My 60 foot times were 2 seconds. Just couldn't get it to hook up. At the time I didn't have the money to buy slicks. If I had good tires and messed around with it some more I think I could've gone 12.00's. I ended up selling the car. Wish I never did that! So yeah I'd love to see more pic's and hear more about your car. Thanks!

Car started out with a 327 that ran pretty good, and I was going to keep it that way because I thought it was the original motor. Also had a T400 tanny in it, which i knew wasn't original, so I was going to look for a replacement T350 to make it right. During this search I found out that the car was not an original 327, but instead came with a 350. Kinda bugged me so I thought I might as well make it run like I want because I would have almost as much cash in it if I had tried to make it orginal, well, turned out costing me quite a bit more. Anyway, I found a good deal on a nice 375 hp 396 from a Chevelle and bought it. A guy offered me a ridiculus amount for it because it was exactly what he was looking for, so now I had to get a new motor. Turns out I found a good deal on a ZL1 and jumped all over that. Redid the suspension. Had the heads worked on and went to a solid roller cam, IIRC, .640/.598 lift. Comp is 11.5:1. Put a Race Demon 975 carb on it, and all the other quality bolt ons I could afford. Got rid of the 10-bolt rearend and bought a Ford 9 with 4.11 gears, Eaton Posi. Few runs with the T400 with 3800 TCI Stall made best times, then the tranny went to crap on me. Put a Muncie M22 in it because a buddy had it and gave me a good deal on it. Can't quite shift near as fast on the strip as I should, so my times have went up a little, funner for street driving though. Not had it on a Dyno yet, but I would love to see what the actual HP/Torque is. Yea the guy with the diesel I was talking about thinks the car has a 350 in it, because I bought the 350 badges when I was going to go back original and did bother to take them off. He's one of those smartsses who thinks he's the best thing to walk the earth. His truck is dang fast, he's dumped probably 60 grand in it. Hate to embarass him but he's talked so much crap about how he can beat anything around so I guess I'll have to run him. Probably be able to race soon and I'll post my times/speed.

Yeah, let us know how it go's.

I would think a well built TH400 would be quite a bit stronger then a M22. But if you like to bang gears I guess you don't have much of a choice! grin

10s takes lot from a diesel in a 6800-7800 lb truck. Yes, a turbo diesel out ETs and MPHs it's HP when you run the numbers on a calculator designed for a non-tuboed motor, but still........

500 RWHP--like my DMAX--is usually good for low 13s. 500 RWHP is crazy on the street.

625 HP will get a truck into the low 12s.

700 HP will get a truck into the mid 11s. That seems to be the limit of #2 only.

This guy would have to make around 700 RWHP and his best pass was 11.53 @ 117.61.

Here is his rig:

2002 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 CCSB

ATS Aurora 5000, head studs, PPE Dual Fuelers, Toman Intake, Kennedy Diesel 20% nozzles, SoCalDiesel fuel pickup & feed, Kennedy Diesel dual lift pumps & filter, Fass 150 gph WOT pump, EFI Live, Kennedy Diesel tuning, ATS Extreme trans, ATS 5 Star converter & copilot, BIG K&N airfilter, 4" MBRP exhaust, Rancho 9000X, Eaton Elocker, tierod sleeves, 285x75x16 BFG AT's on stock rims, race weight 6600#,9-11-06 Mid Michigan Motorplex - Stanton, MI

To get 10s? What, 850 RWHP? That would be one an extensively modified truck, regardless of the brand.

As a comparison, my 1986 Regal T-Type (SS/GT chassis, brakcet engine that dynoed 610 HP, glide, 9", 4-link, etc) ran 10s, but it weighed less than half of these diesel trucks (3200 lbs).

I'd say the truck will lose to you on the track, though if he has a 4x4, he can probably beat you to stoplight-to-stoplight on the street.

I bought a Land Rover LR3 with a V-8 engine last fall. It's a great hunting vehicle: excellent off road, pulls my trailer easily and very comfortable if I needed it as an everyday driver.

Just bought a new hunting truck...

2005 Chev 2500HD Crew cab short box, 4x4, 6.0L, 4:10 gears, new 265/75 R16 Goodyear Wranglers (not too big but looks good), Dark blue.

Just finished putting K&N cold air intake on it.

Love it so far, and real nice to drive.

I have a 6x6 M109A3 deuce and a half shop van that has a diesel fueled heater and benches for reloading and 2 safes in it one for pistols and one for rifles. The engine is a Hercules/Continental straight 6 turbo. Max HP is 160 with the turbo and it is governed to 56mph up hill down hill any hill. Some day Ill get the 20,000lb winch for it. Only problem is its 9R20 tires dont like swamp land here in Florida.

92 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4, 3.1 v6, 5 speed. One of the best 4wd's ive ever owned. Almost 168k on it now and never any replacement parts needed other than spark plugs, wires, the whole tune up.

My new truck is a 2007 tundra doublecab 4x4 with the 5.7 engine. It rides great, handles good, and the power is very impressive. To top it off it equals my 2004 GMC with the 5.3 as far as fuel mileage is concerned.
