Took a ride up to the elk visitor center and check station yesterday. The elk must know it's season cause they are staying as close to the houses as they can, including some good bulls.

The one bull has a volleyball net stuck on his antlers.

One small cow was brought in while I was up there. Was hoping to see more but had to leave to get back in time to vote.

Pictures aren't in any order, having trouble getting them organized on the phone.

Bocjanala: Thank you for sharing your Pa elk photos. The country sleepy towns of Benzette and Medix Run normally will have elk, bulls and cows lying in the yards and of home in these towns, but I have never seen this many in my trips there. I once saw 4 raghorns lying in the grass along a man's driveway in the middle of Benzette, and by the camps on RT 555 and Winslow Hill.

The area around Benezette and Winslow Hill where the Elk County Visitor museum with its large fields planted for the elk and 2 other elk viewing area on Winslow Hill are off limits to elk hunting.

You can NOT shoot them in town in the neighborhood yards. It is not like shooting fish in a barrel, but easier than hunting in the mtns of Colo Idaho Wyo Montana. All elk must be brought into a Pa elk check station for evaluation for health analysis and weight. Tissue samples are taken for CWD and other testing A tooth is pulled for age determination.

Quite a few year a go I watched for over 1 1/2 hours a battle between a herd bull 6x7 and 4 satellite raghorns trying to steal his cows. Amazing scene to watch ! And this took place in the backyard of a small farm home whose owners were having a backyard picinic…. until the bruhau erupted ! Late Sept is the month to see the rut behaviors of Pa elk.

If I can find some Pa Game Comm photos or Elk County Outfitters photos... I will post them. HH
